We have stayed at the Radison @ the port and we also stayed at another hotel near the airport with a free shuttle (I don't remember which one). We are need a hotel for the night before our cruise in May. I have heard alot of good things about the Hyatt @ the airport. Is it loud at night? Trying to decide if we should try it. Any other suggestions?

We slept great! I thought it was very quiet and certainly incredibly convenient. I checked in to the hotel with our DDs and my husband went o baggage claim. We ate a late dinner at the retaurant downstairs, went to bed, put o ur bags outside the door by 8:30 the next morning and saw them next in our cabin. We took the elevator down, walked across the lobby, and had the entire food court to select breakfast from. We then did a little shopping at the Disney Store, then went right down to meet our limo.

They even stored our DD's carseat for the week, so that we didn't have to store it in our cabin. We had wanted it for the plane, but our limo had seats for the trip to the port.

I recommend it as a very convenient and affordable option. Any q's, feel free to ask!

We've usually just booked an airport hotel thru Priceline. The 3* hotels all have free shuttles from the airport, and the cost usually ranges from $28 - $35 per night (although someone just posted that they got a room for $38). The downside to using Priceline is that you don't get to choose your hotel, so if you really want the Hyatt, you'll need to book it thru them and pay a whole lot more.

Since for us, it is just an overnight stop on the way to the cruise, I'd rather save the money for cruise fun!

Do not go down to the 2.5* level. There is a LaQuinta at that level that is a real dump, and some hotels at that level do not have a free shuttle. You'll easily eat up the difference if you have to pay for a cab to the hotel!

Had a great night's sleep at the Hyatt (Airport): however, after a 10 hr flight, we would have slept on a washing line! Room was very smart and comfortable, and VERY quiet. Yes, it was a little expensive, but I think you can get a cheaper quote if you shop around. Anyway, it was great getting off the plane and having a room ready to "crash out", and then only a few steps to the DCL Bus the next morning. The staff were lovely and helpful, and we will certainly stay there again next time. :Pinkbounc Nat

diz4me- Who took your luggage? You mentioned that you put it in the hallway and then a limo took you to the port. Doesn't the limo take the luggage? TIA

DCL took our luggage, even though we did not use DCL busses. This is a perk of staying at the Hyatt. Our limo company certainly could have taken the, but we preferred not to have the hassle of having them with us any longer than we had to. This way, we could check out of the hotel early and have a relaxing breakfast without our bags. Also, we wanted to make a grocery stop, so we enjoyed having the extra space in our van. We enjoyed just driving up to the port and sauntering in, not dealing with checking our bags in again at the port . For a group of 8, it was great to turn our bags over to DCL as early as possible so we could stop lugging and counting them!

That sounds great! What transportation company did you use and were you happy with them? Also, what time did you leave the Hyatt and would you do the same again? Thanks.

We get a hotel via Priceline in the MCO area. We bid the higest star level and usually get one for $25 to $28. It's almost always the Marriott, but it's also been the Renaissance and the Holiday Inn Select. They all have free shuttles and are within walking distance of restaurants. We take Happy Limo to the port, but you could take the free shuttle back to the airport in the morning if you are taking the DCL buses. We usually end up with a connecting room (seems to be a Priceline thing), but it has never been noisy and we've always gotten a good night's sleep.

Barb - We were lucky and got the Hotwire deal -$25 for the Hyatt 1/23. Now we're just deciding on transportation companies. I've looked at Happy Limo on your site and saw there's a coupon. There are 4 of us (Me, DH, DD12 and DS10). Is the limo worth it? The kids have never been in one and I'm tempted since this cruise is their Christmas present. Decisions, decisions...

Diz4me, was the Hyatt @mco very expensive??? my daughter will be coming in from boulder, co. the day before we get back from our 4 day cruise. we want to pick her up at a place we know how to get to from the ship. thanks for any help.

How was the Holiday Inn Select at the airport? We just got 2 rooms there thru Priceline. We were hoping for the Hyatt because our plane gets in at 11:00pm. It looks like it is only 1 mile from the airport, so providing the shuttle works well, it shouldn't take long to get there.

minniesota,
The kids would probably get a kick out of a limo. When we sailed in Sept., we did a limo because we were travelling with another family. Their son is 18, and he was like a little kid messing around with the DVD player! The limo was really cool...the DVD, plus fiber optic lights, cold beverages, and of course LOTS of room.
Jules1,
The Holiday Inn Select was really nice. It's on the same side of the street as the Marriott. There are lots of hotels in that area, which is right outside of the north exit from the airport. There are courtesy phones in the baggage area, and their shuttle was very prompt. You should be there within a few minutes.

Not wanting to risk any other hotel that the Hyatt we didn't priceline, and were willing to pay the extra $ to book with Hyatt directly. We were arriving late with DD2 and DD3 and didn't want to wait one more second for a shuttle, etc. We paid $83.00 via special internet price, which I thought was very fair.

We originally booked with Tiffany, whom I now hope goes out of business becuase of their incredibly rude and nasty service. They canceled on me 3 days before the cruise becuase I asked for two car seats, claiming "Business is too good, we don't have to deal with people with children. The safety of your children is your responsibility, not ours." Can you believe it?

Anyway, we have used Your Ride and had great experiences...loved the grocery stop at Publix! I have family members who have used happy Limo, also with great results.
Good luck and feel free to post any more q's.!

Diz4me-how did you arrange to have your luggage picked up by DCL? My family and I are staying at the MCO Hyatt on 2/13.Happy Limo is picking us up on 2/14 for the ride to the port. I would love to have our luggage concerns taken care of. Five of us, maybe six-that's alot of luggage. I'd appreciate the info on how to arrange this.

Double check when you arrive, but for us, it was just a matter of having our tagged baggage outside the room at 8:30. DCL comes thorugh all the hallways of the hotel and picks up all of the bags. They do this in part becuase anyone who purchases pre cruise stays through DCL stays at the Hyatt. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they pick up the bags of non DCL customers also. It doesn't matter if you use their transportantion or your own private car service. Great benefit of staying at the Hyatt.

On a related note, we were able to check our bags and check in for our flight after the cruise right at the port. Once again, no luggage to haul. Just arrive at the airport and walk straight to the gate!

Call the Hyatt if you wish to confirm, but it seems the standard practice.

I've been looking into getting the Hyatt at MCO for the night prior to my cruise in March. I know that there was a great deal through Hotwire previously. What icons were present that triggered you to think it was the Hyatt? I know that it is under a 3 and a half star rating, no airport shuttle, but I know there is another 3 1/2 star hotel on hotwire near MCO with no shuttle as well....

There was a link on this earlier...

I was looking into finding the Hyatt MCO on Hotwire before and was told that it has the following icons: food, pool, fitness center, business center, tennis nearby. Also it is 3 1/2 stars and has no shuttle icon. There is another 3 1/2 star hotel listed on Hotwire with no shuttle icon and with some (but not all) of the above listed icons. I think (if I remember correctly) it is the Sheraton Suites.
