I'm thinking about flying in on a Friday night (landing at 11pm!), staying at the Hyatt and then catching DME the next day. I have a couple of questions for those who have done this...

1) Is $250 for the night the best rate I am going to find? If we decide to take the late flight, we are already going to be spending an extra $200 on the airfare, but it will get us to WDW much earlier in the day than if we fly in on Saturday (landing at 3pm) so I am seriously considering this plan.

2) How far is it from the luggage pick up to the hotel itself? We've always used DME and never had to pick up our luggage at MCO so I don't even know where baggage claim is located. We are flying on SWA if that makes a difference.

3) What would be my best option for breakfast? We don't need anything huge, but we'd like something to fill us up since we probably won't have another meal until dinner. We need more than just a continental offering, but not as much as a buffet.

It's a Hyatt Regency, and it's nice, and it has a great location, so it's rarely *cheap*.

If you can visualize going through the main area post or pre security, and looking up and seeing the rooms up there, that's the hotel. It's *part* of the airport.

Baggage claim is downstairs, so you'd go down and then back up with bags.

Not sure about breakfast, sorry.

As much as I love that hotel, have you looked at any resorts at WDW to see if they would be cheaper for that first night? You would still have to get your bags (if you're coming in between 10pm and 5am) and take them to the bus, then to your room (or ask Bell Services for help) but you'd be closer to your WDW resort the next day.

I thought about just getting a room for the night at Pop Century (or similar), but I will be working that day (up at 3:30am!), the kids will be up for school by 6:30am and then travelling after a full day of work and school. At 11pm, getting our bags and taking DME to the resort would easily add another 90 minutes or more to an already VERY long day. The cost is a bit of a factor, but the convenience is far more important. If $250 is a typical price, then that is what I will budget for. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't any discount or fluctuation in pricing that I am missing.

I've used a site called biddingfortravel.com twice in the past, in 2004 we got 2 rooms there for $38 each. Below is a bid from last year, the most recent available. The downside is that you might get another hotel, we got a Marriott one year going down but it didn't matter because we were using Tiffany and they picked us up there.

We have done this a few times and are doing it again on our next trip. We love the Hyatt! The rooftop pool is terrific. For breakfast, we go to Hemisphere. Sometimes you can get breakfast included (for 2) in your package. If you have CAA (AAA in the US) the room is $189 for 2 or $199 for 4. The bed and breakfast CAA /AAA package currently shows $231. The breakfast is fantastic! I think the breakfast is at Hemisphere restaurant. Sometimes we just grab a light breakfast at Starbucks if we are not interested in a big breakfast. Baggage claim is downstairs.
We then catch the DME in the morning to Disney:-) I am still hoping for a better rate, so not booking yet. Good luck getting a good price - even if we can't get anything better, we will book it because we love it that much!

We stayed at the Hyatt the night before our cruise in December 2015. It was a Thursday night.

The CAA/AAA rate including breakfast for two adults was $175 for two adults for a normal room; $196 for a Pure Room. FWIW, the "normal" bed and breakfast rate (non-AAA) for a normal room was $199.

The breakfast is a really good buffet in their Hemisphere restaurant.

If you got to the Hyatt website they have a variety of discounts and packages available.

We enjoyed our stay there and will be spending the night before our next cruise there as well.

For breakfast you can go to Hemisphere or save some money and go down to McD's in the food court of the airport. That is what I did. I grabbed a couple egg mcmuffins and brought them back up to the room. Took me all of 15 minutes to walk down, get them and walk back to the room. No you do not have to go through security to do this. Then we headed to WDW.

A couple of times when we arrived late into MCO we stayed at the Country Inn and Suites. We got our luggage, called the hotel and the shuttle van was there in less than 10 minute. Its only a 10 minute ride to the hotel. Breakfast in the morning was a free buffet. After breakfast the shuttle driver took us back to MCO to catch the DME. Cost of the room was under $100. They also have rooms that are suites if you need extra room. Our rooms were always clean and quiet.

One year we did similar to PP. We stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott "at the airport". It was before DME - so a while ago. But we collected our luggage and called and the hotel shuttle was there within 10 minutes. We were 3 adults and the room had 2 Queen beds. It included a free hot breakfast in the morning. Then we had Tiffany Town Car pick us up there and we were at BCV by 10 and in Epcot soon after, full, rested and ready to go.
