So glad for you Pastamom...I'm sure your shoulders feel lighter today! Congrats.
tink2dw - I remember your posts from years ago when the boards were much smaller. I'm sorry that things have not gone your way and your husbands health is poor. Take care and know that even folks you don't know from far away are thinking of you. How kind of you to be the first to post a congrats to pastamom.
My boyfriend finally got a job too! He's been unemployed for the last year and a half (there was a little time in between where he had a few months of work). I've been planning this trip before he got his job and I was going to pay for everything, which I still will, but I want him to focus on getting his debt paid off and save up for an apartment or a down-payment on a house. As long as he loves me (or maybe propose to me at DW. ), I don't care if he pays me for his portion of the trip or not because I know he is very grateful for everything that I do for him.
Because he works near my house (He's an HVAC Tech guy so he travels around the area) we meet up for lunch some times or he stops by my house if his last job or next job is near my house. We don't hang out as much as we used to because he's basically on call 24/7 and he lives 45 minutes away from me, but I'm just grateful that he has a job and can get back on track.
My DH too recently got a job after being out of work for over a year. Best part is, it is about the same money as his previous job of 16 yrs. Also no longer has heavy lifting in a warehouse which was either too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer. Perfect as he is not as young as he used to be. We can finally start to get back on track. In fact there is a WDW trip coming with the dance studio next summer and looks like we may be able to go now.
We had a trip planned for Nov. 2009, but DH lost his job in July 2009 - He was out of work for almost a year...But, he's back to work now
and we have a trip booked for Dec. 2010...Pretty sure we are going to be able swing it
Good luck to those still looking - I know the stress you are under!
How true!! I don't think anyone who hasn't gone through it understands the stress. We were fortunate that we had a decent savings and that I was at least working part time (now full time). I've spent many sleepless nights in the last year worrying about our future....
