Hurricane Wilma's track

Thanks for posting the map. Where did you look that one up? Much clearer than the site I've visited.

wow, it's really slowing down....the track now shows it still in the gulf on sunday evening....people who were worried about getting into Orlando on Saturday shouldn't have any problems now....

We may have no trouble getting there, but what about whilst we are there?!

if it stays on the track shown on the map, you'll probably have heavy rain and wind......if it's enough to close the parks (which i don't know if it will be or not) then they'll probably not be closed for long...

when we were there in a hurricane, they didn't open up in the morning, but opened at 11 AM....the moment they felt it was ok to open...
it was still extremely rainy and windy but we didn't care....we slapped on our ponchos, got on the bus (we were staying at the All Star Music at the time, without a car) and headed on over to epcot....where i figured there's a lot of indoor stuff so the heavy rain wouldn't be as problematic there...

the crowds were so light, we had a marvelous time....everyone was in one of those "we're all in this together" sort of moods and even friendlier than usual.....and you know how very friendly WDW is....we had a great time...

during the brunt of the hurricane, we were in our room, but the hotel kept us up to date on what was happening and what to do....

The island of Cozumel has taken one hell of a battering. Reports of Cat 4 at landfall, 50+ feet wave surge, 140mph sustained winds and 170 mph gusts :scared:

I am feeling a little worried now, wasnt too concerned at the begining of the week as thought Wilma would be long gone by the time we were due to fly out (friday morning) but it looks like she may well still be lingering.

Virgin are already offering customers due to fly up to Wednesday for a transfer!!

Oh No........

Here is a live report from Cancun. The pictures futher down the page (especially the before/after pics) are incredible.

http://stormcarib.com/reports/2005/mexico.shtml

Other reports suggest the Boulevard Kukulcan where all of the hotels are located is no longer visible. The road no longer exists as it is now just one big ocean. The Caribbean Sea has crossed over and met the Lagoon and the waters are rising. All hotels in the hotel zone are flooded and taking water. Between 3 am and 5 am the water is expected to rise to 30 feet or 3 stories in the hotel zone. :scared:

We are due to fly in on Monday evening 18.30 local time, to Orlando International, getting a connecting flight from Newark. looking at the projected path its looking like Wilma will be right in the middle of Florida.

I getting worried now.

I'm worried also - Due to fly in Tuesday afternoon with Virgin.

Anyone know what the possible procedure is if the plane cant get into orlando airport? Do they cancel the flight from the UK? Do they land elsewhere.

I know I am probably worrying unnecesarily, and my thoughts are with those already affected by Wilma

I'm not sure what to do either. Go or postpone? I'm supposed to fly out of Newark to Orlando, Monday morning. What should I do? :confused3

COME ON GUYS!
I can undersatnd if you are American wanting to hide in your homes from the big, bad hurricane, :earsboy: :earsboy: but we are British for Gods sake! we did not conquer half of the world by worrying about a small rain cloud! :earboy2: :earboy2:

Quite so dear boy, quite so. The Britsh brolly and bowler are designed to fight off both rain storms and savages don'rcha know? :teeth:

For those of you due to fligh soon contact your air line thay will have a plan all ready and will tell you what to do, from what i have seen if and when it hits florida the eye will be down in miami and orlando will just catch the out side of it and and it will be down to a cat 1 my freinds flew out on thursday and thay were worryed but what you gonna do i say take the risk.

We came home from Naples on Thursday and to be honest the local radio station was telling people to get prepared but wasn't going OTT about it. They were quite positive and were hoping that it would lose some force as it travelled in their path. On Friday we were watching CNN and they were showing scenes from Naples of the traffic coming out of Naples of people moving in land. We didn't see anything like this when we left.
The signs for the hurricane evacuation route all head in land so I would imagine that means that they believe the inland area is safer thus meaning that Orlando is a safer bet.
