Hurricane Watch

*dislaimer: This is my extremely unprofessional opinion based on hours of watching and worrying over various different weather models the last week and from all the storm tracking I have done the last 4 years that we have gone to WDW in late August.

I needed a laugh. Very stressful Friday trying to get out of work before vacation. Really dragging. This made me giggle. Thanks!

Will airport close with a tropical storm? Fly in Tuesday at noon so a little worried what may or may not change with our flight.

I fly in Sunday as well. For people planning to be there, are you considering changing fast passes/canceling ADRs?

I'm leaving everything as is, highly unlikely this will be significant enough to keep me from touring the parks still. I still need to eat. :-) I may have to do a last minute swap of my DHS day because DS wants to do Jedi Training. We were planning for Tuesday and that is more than likely going to be a washout day, so I'll look to shift that to later in the week.

So evidently the Governor of Florida has declared a state of emergency due to the pending Hurricane/Storm. You may want to watch the weather closely for any changes. I received this information from one of our vendors at work who are located in Boca Raton Florida.

Here's wishing you little rain and little crowds!

Flying in tomorrow, which hopefully should be okay, and will be there for an entire week. Keeping all our plans and hoping for the best as well!

Every time we travel to WDW, it's during hurricane season and so far we've been lucky. We've never been there during a hurricane! I'm keeping an eye on Erika and hope we miss that one as well. Has Disney ever been hit with a hurricane? I'm just wondering what they do for park guests. Do they end up closing the parks? Has anyone been there during a hurricane?
Erika isnt going to be a hurricane, probably wont be anything organized, but will be a low pressure system bringing lots of rain to Florida.

I live in central Florida so I look at the storm track several times a day. Every time I look at it it is a completely different track. Why don't the weatherpeople just admit they simply do not have a clue?

Next 36 hours should give us all an idea of where & what Erika is going to do. I've lived in central florida for almost 60 years & I take nothing for granted. We're supposed to arrive at WDW on Monday morning but everything will depend on where she decides to go as we can't leave our business on the coast if she changes her mind again where she's going.

yep, at least the southern part of the state is. And they will get the brunt of the rain anyhow.

Maybe down south, but central Florida has been completely the opposite. The Orlando area has gotten tons of rain over the last month, and Tampa recently had some pretty major flooding events.

Well part of Florida needs rain, it's hurricane season, this will be nothing major, just some needed rain for many parts of Florida that need it. It's hurricane season in Florida which is also why it's value season at WDW, it's a risk people take traveling during hurricane season. But really this will be some rain in Orlando, pack your ponchos and expect to get wet.

Who knew? It has been raining so much in Orlando I saw a guy building an Arc last week.
