Hurricane Season

I think it actually starts in June, but it takes awhile for the ocean to heat up. Most storms don't develop until August, September, October timeframe.

So is it a bad idea to go in September?

If the only thing you're considering is hurricane season, yes. But it would be silly to discount the whole month (or any part of June, July, August, October or November) simply because you think you might run into a storm. You could have no hurricane scares at all .... you could find yourself smack in the middle of three of them. No way to know.

Never a "bad" time to go to the World.

I have read where many folks felt safe in the resorts. We'll be there at the end of Sept. and if one heads that way, will more than likely will ride it out there. I live in S. Florida anyway and rode out two of them last year. I heard resorts never lost power (with the exception of flickering lights at the start), believe me that's much better than the heat and no power we went through here twice for several days.

Well the choice is to go at the begining of Dec or the middle - end of Sept. Either way they are projected times to be least visited. The only thing pulling me to Sept is the option of HEAT!

June 21st, I believe is the exact date. Either way, it's toward the end of June.

June 1 through Dec 1. I just heard today that this season's hurricanes will be worse than last years. The water is pretty warm and warm water spawns biggun's. Probably won't have to worry about hurricane's until at least August. But they do go through Nov. We had one about a week before we left on the Disney cruise for Thanksgiving week a few years back.
