hurricane season

Live in Beaumont area as well! I agree...our chaces are just as great so might as well go there.:goodvibes

I've lived in Florida for ages and ages. I've been through hurricanes and you know what? Disney is one place I'd love to be during a storm. For some reason, I'm sure they know what to do in an emergency. Plus, their buildings are built sooo strong.

ALthough it didn't directly hit Orlando we were there for Hurricane Wilma. They closed the parks for the morning (we were told the night before) but then we got word that they would be opening around 2pm for resort guests only. What a day! The sun came out and the parks were empty! We walked on everything!
I do have to say we were quite scared the day before though. We got rushed out of EPCOT early as the CMs kept telling us they had to go prepare for the hurricane and in ESPN club the servers kept telling us they might make them stay overnight because workers might not be able to get there for work the next day and they had to have workers available. No one was in a good mood as all the CMs were worried about getting home to take care of their own homes. (couldn't blame them)
Also, the resorts were crazy the morning of the hurricane. Family's crowded the dining areas and arcades. People basically "set up" camp in the common areas.

Just to clarify, Wilma was just a tropical storm when it came throught the Orlando area.

we decided to stick with our plan and go in dec:santa: i wanted to go with the free dining, but im afraid it might bring in more crowds!
