Also apparently 3 dead in Florida so far -- don't have any details on that.

On the power outages, I saw a news story yesterday about linesman's trucks staged in Lake City, north of Gainesville where I-10 and I-75 intersect. The story said dozens, but the picture looked like maybe a couple hundred trucks. So the power companies are on it, as they always are.

The three deaths in Florida so far are as follows:
  • a woman in her 60's in Volusia County (Daytona area) killed by a falling tree
  • an elderly man and woman in St Lucie County (Port St. Lucie, Ft Pierce area) who had medical emergencies and passed away before emergency responders could reach them.

Fort Wilderness is still closed because of debris. My son is headed there for overtime cleanup after they finish at the Contemporary. He usually works at the MK.

THANK YOU!! We have an upcoming trip in a month or so and I've been scouring the internet trying to find information about how Fort Wilderness fared during this hurricane. Yours is the first little bit of news I've found. I hope we hear more about this resort soon.

I asked him today how the clean up went at FW and he said it wasn't all that bad. I've heard today and tomorrow for reopening.

We're not out of the woods yet with this storm. There are now 20 dead in the US; 10 of them in NC, and 5 still missing in NC. The NC National Guard is also trying to rescue at least 1,500 people in Lumberton, NC, most of whom are stranded on the roofs of their homes.
