Tried searching but I am only finding information on cruise trip insurance issues. we were there during hurricane matthew. Kids were devastated when MNSSHP was canceled both Thursday (our ticket day) and Friday. After asking Disney, we were refunded our money (but the disappointment continues). Knowing that Disneyworld would be closed that Friday and we decided to use our last park day ticket on Thursday (we had planned to just use the party ticket this day). After entering MK (ten minutes later) they made an announcement that the park was closing by 5pm...My question is, does the trip insurance cover anything?? Park closing early? Is it worth calling? Thanks.

I had a similar issue 6 or 7 years ago. I went to a water park on the last day and as soon as we walked in, they closed the park due to bad weather. I went to the ticket booth as soon as I left and let them know it was our last day and what had happened. They gave me a new pass for a WP&M ticket that expired in 2017.

The only thing I would say about trying to do it now, is that it is hard to prove you were only there for 10 min at this point. I would try to contact Disney first then trip insurance. Hope you get something refunded.

I think they were at the park longer than 10 minutes. I think Disney made the announcement of the early closure after they were there for ten minutes but the park didn't close immediately.

OP, this is going to be very dependent on your insurance policy. If the policy does normally cover admission tickets, I think since you were refunded for the party tickets and used your theme park tickets, it will be doubtful that they will cover anything.

I'm gonna have to call. we have the Disney insurance. we at the park for 4 hours. thanks

Disney was also offering 1-day parkhopper tickets to those who lost a park day. The MNSSHP did get canceled on Wednesday prior to the announcement of the Friday park closure and early closure of the park on Thursday.

You may want to try Disney first before you try to recoup money via the insurance policy.

You need to call the insurance company. Not all policies are the same, and they will need proof of whatever claim you are going to make.

But in this case, did they actually lose a park day? It sounds like they were planning to go to a park on Friday but, since it was going to be closed, they used the ticketed day allocated to Friday on Thursday.

Disney's Guest Recovery regarding loss of park time was in hyper-mode before, during, and after Matthew. When CMs arrived for work on Thursday morning, they were told the park was closing at 5:00p. Disney randomly announced the closure to guests that afternoon. That's why there was no question in accommodating guests with tickets, refunds, and party substitutions.

A 1-day ticket from Disney, depending how it is used, has more value than Day #7 of a 7-day ticket. An insurance company could factor the value at $10 for that one day.

don't forget to ask about the deductible, my guess is you probably won't get anything back if disney says no and you put in a claim because it will be well below the deductible.
