As of 1:00 p.m. EDT Sunday, Ivan, the 5th hurricane of the 2004 Atlantic season, was centered at 10.1 north, 46.6 west, or about 1995 miles east of the Windward Islands. The storm has been rapidly strengthening today, and is now a category 3 storm on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Some additional strengthening is expected over the next couple of days. The storm is moving to the west at 21 mph, and should continue to over the next couple of days with a gradual turn toward the west-northwest. This would bring the storm into the Caribbean Tuesday afternoon or night, then into the north-central Caribbean by the end of the week. There is great uncertainty in where the storm would track from there.

was going to take a track across the mountainous areas of the Dominican Republic and Cuba and then hopefully end up in the Gulf as a weak Cat. 1 hurricane!!! 
Mountains do tend to kill off some of a hurricane's winds, so maybe if we wish and pray hard enough and use enough Pixie Dust, the mountains will knock off Ivan altogether!!!!!
