Hurricane Irma?

I agree with you that WDW was great about all of this. Just having some issues with Universal. It may be because our stay was to begin on Wednesday of next week (proceeded by a stay at WDW from Friday to Wednesday). But without the Disney portion of the trip, it seems like a waste to travel down and take time off to go to Universal only, especially considering the state Florida may be in after the Hurricane. Thanks!

Are you cancelling or rebooking?

In 2016 we had to rebook our Universal trip very last minute. I called Cabana Bay the day we were supposed to arrive and they rebooked with no problems or charges. Our tickets were good until the time we ended up going. I can't imagine them giving you a lot of issue at a time like this.

We are in the "still going" camp. Set to arrive tomorrow at 10:30 am at MCO. Will probably try to steal a little park time before the closures and then button down the hatches for a couple of days. We will be at Wilderness Lodge, so I can't say I will be sad about having to stay put for 2 days. Who else still plans on going in ahead of the storm and riding it out?
I was planing on staying b then changed my mind at 9am this morning and headed back to the hotel to cancel my trip now stuck in traffic. Drive what should have been an hour drive in 3. Now wishing I stayed. The hotels are in sane very busy long lines parks are not that bad

Good advice just posted by Kenny the Pirate for guests planning to "ride out" Irma...

"Use your snack credits NOW to stock up on edibles and water for the 2 days the parks are closed. You’ll see very long lines for any potential food items once all guests are required to return to resorts. Some folks purchase pizzas in advance. Be sure you have any necessary presciption medications. Charge your phones and backup battery devices in the event of a power outage. Try to use it sparingly and turn off all uncessary applications to save battery."
Just saying, people can also drink water out of the taps.

Considering that the storm is projected to be at Cat 2 Hurricane as it goes over Central FL, I'd NOT be going to Disney if I had the chance to cancel. For one, there will be extensive damage with a Cat 2 storm and the idea of people actually showing up to work if they are trying to fix their homes up is crazy. Services are going to be impacted and it will NOT just be "business as usual" even after the storm. This is real people.

Any definitive answers regarding cars being towed from DS parking lots? We had our daughter's car shipped down here and I am worried about leaving it parked at the Beach Club during the storm.

I was advised with both that I would need to pay the $200 fee regardless of rebooking or cancelling. Planning to rebook in November. Have a reservation on courtesy hold once they advise that the current reservation can be cancelled or changed without penalty.

Again though, I blame Disney for this.

They can easily say " Guys, please stay home, we will reimburse you for everything you had planned here , we do NOT want you to come "

Which is basically how it is now, and the flights are being refunded or rebooked for free also.

It's just Disney wont say that.. They don't feel the need.. So if people are still coming, Disney can't complain in the end if things go sour at their resorts

Their CM's are the ones who are gonna be most stressed there

You think Disney will miss out on making money :rotfl2::rotfl2:.

Disney shouldn't have to say this. At this point, it's pretty clear what's going to happen. A reasoning person would know you don't head into a situation like this - especially when so many are trying to get away from it. It's not up to Disney to play nanny for everyone who makes a reservation. It's up to those people to take personal responsibility for themselves and make responsible decisions.

It is likely to be damaged by flying debris and I'd consider that when parking the car to ride out the storm.

They can't close the resorts, however, without throwing thousands of people onto the streets.
I said the parks, not the resorts.

I assumed you were upset with the person who wanted to go to the parks. Or were you upset they were still coming to WDW on Saturday?

I'm actually surprised that they don't charge more for the experience. Maybe a desert party to go with the storm? or a better view?

Right maybe a FP to restaurants after they open from the storm. Those lines after Matthew in Disney springs were ridiculous!

During Matthew they wanted to charge us $100 a night that what they were charging the reservation they were cancelling. Also after my Matthew experience if things went south the last person I would wanted to be in charge of anything would have been that manger at BLT let alone my family safety! The CM are underpaid and not train as crisis responders.
