Hurricane info and DVC/WDW

The low tide in that area was higher than typical high tide this morning.. they are expecting more flooding as day progresses, even though storm is moving away

I don't think anyone is there right now. Didn't they evacuate the whole area a few days ago?

Matthew is weaker, but HHI looks like it was getting hit hard. Does anyone have any news who is there right now?

I was supposed to check out today from Boardwalk and I was able to extend my stay to Monday using points, staying in the same room- very thankful!

That is great! We had a boardwalk view studio booked that we had to cancel because we couldn't get there so knowing its' helping others is a good thing!

Well, although Orlando was largely spared, it looks like Hilton Head Island was hit pretty hard. I didn't get any feedback regarding the DVC HHI resort, so can't really say much about that.

The center passed about 20 miles off the coast of HHI, so most of the island was hit with very high winds.

power lines and roads between the island and mainland were down today. Cleanup should take awhile, although they should have major repairs done fairly quickly.

Hopes and prayers go out to all those who may suffered from the storm.

I've been reading on FB. I don't think anyone has gotten to DHHIR yet but the Shelter Cove area was said to not be bad...King Neptune still standing. Not sure about the beach house. There is a DHHIR FB group and updates can be found there if you want to ask to join group.
