Hurricane Frances looking bad

Virgin are not flying to or from Orlando through Gatwick or Manchester on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

MCO is closing at mid day tomorrow until possibly Monday and Sanford is closed over the weekend, maybe reopening Monday.

Another update posted on the CB.

In summary Frances has weakened overnight and has been downgraded to a Cat 3 storm with 120mph winds. The forcast track has also been shifted further south so it is possible that Orlando might escape the centre of the storm and the really strong winds.

The next few advisories from the NHC should let us know if this is just a blip or part of a longer term weakening.

The weekend is still going to be a rough ride but if this trend holds or continues then long term damage should be greatly reduced.

Stay safe.

Alan.

stevefry -- we were staying in WDW during the hurricane in 1999, and at the time they said it was the first time ever that WDW was closed for anything (actually, it opened late....at 11:00 AM)....

they were amazing....we were staying in the All Star Music....i have never seen anything so organized....we were very very impressed.....

Hi Beth,
we are hoping that everything will have blown over by the time we get there in a fortnight.

I assume that the Disney staff will all have been trained for every possibility. A friend who has just returned has described how professional the CMs were in making the best out of the awful situation during Charley.

Here's wishing everyone residing in Florida lots of luck during the next few days!
Steve.

How realistic do you think I am being? Were scheduled to fly out Friday 10th (1 week today), do you guys think things will be back to normal or will this still be cuasing delays, cancellations etc.

Sorry to sound selfish, I am very concerned and pray for the people out there and the people meant to be travelling this weekend. But we just want to try and work out how this will effect us.

Thanks for any ideas.

We were due to fly out the day after Hurricane Charley hit. We had a 32 hour delay to our flight, but by the time we got to Orlando, three days after Charley, just about all of the parks and attractions were up and running again.

Regards

Rob

Frances is currently stalled over the Bahamas and is down to Cat 2 strength.

It should start moving in a WNW direction later today and is predicted to hit Florida sometime late tonight.
