From the latest predictions it looks like hurricane Earl is going to be crossing over my house!:scared1:

Well, whether or not it will still be a hurricane at that time it is obvious that Earl will impact the eastern seaboard from the Carolinas to Newfoundland with high winds, torrential rain and dangerous seas, so everyone please stay safe this weekend.:grouphug:

Stupid hurricane!!! we have big plans this weekend that Earl is threatening to spoil.....Berwick Gala days is this weekend with my kid on the princess float. She'll be heartbroken if Earl blows it (pun intended) for her and we have friends up from Florida, of all places, that we won't be able to see if the weather is too bad.

Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll do a left turn .....

Geez, your friends from Florida must be right at home with the heat and humidity we're getting this week! It's supposed to be the same weather here as Orlando for today and tomorrow:eek:

I watched the forcast this morning, and it looks like Earl will cross over my area as a Cat. 2.....luckily it looks like the center will remain off shore, so at worst, we can expect a LOT of rain, and heavy wind...some areas might flood out near the beach, so I'm having my DD BF stay with us until is passes on Friday.

My DGD has her open house for high school on Thursday evening, not sure that's going to happen now...just have to wait and see.

My best wishes for all those in his path....

I've been watching the projected path for changes since we are supposed to be headed to Myrtle Beach this weekend. It looks like the eye will stay out to see so hopefully it won't be to bad and it looks like South Carolina will be clear.

I do keep singing "Earl had to die" by the Dixie Chicks all week.

The best info on Earl and all the storms can be found at the link below.

We are hunkering. Kids get out of school at 1 tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well and it will stay out to sea.
popcorn::

I don't have any hunker down music! I need supplies! Chocolate right? Maybe some jelly belly jelly beans? Going to lay in a supply of doritos tomorrow night and fill up the gas tank......

On a serious note I'm just hoping that our apple season isn't over before it even gets started....the track puts it right over me pretty much now....ugh....I hate waiting games.

Oh, and to top it off we were hotter here today then Death Valley....kids that start school here over the next two days are going to melt in their non airconditioned class rooms.....

I think you need to start right now tying all the apples to the trees with twist-ties! :rotfl2:

Seriously though, I'm going to start moving stuff indoors tomorrow and prepare for the power to go out. Doritos are good, anything that won't melt or need to be cooked!

dont worry its not going to be strong at all when it gets by you. its not going to be a cat 4 like right now probably a cat 1 or a tropical storm so dont worry.and i had my first day of school yesterday, 96 degrees in classrooms with no a.c or fans and 20 students in each class. thats what we get for going to cheap schools lol.

I am by now means a meteorologist but I work for an insurance company who cover NAT CAT perils in the US and we dont appear to be worried. (although were talking big companies losses, not private dwellings)

Normally if they are worried about a current storm I will be asked to run predictions of claims, but I havent with EARL.

Ive noticed on a the website though that the warning has increased slightly on the coast of NC and it appears the the path goes further inland up the coast than it did yesterday - but common sense tells you that changes by the hour

Good Luck to you all though - fingers crossed it passes with none or very minimal damage

You also have a new storm called GASTON following Fiona today (tiny in comparison)

Just checked the official track this morning - it now appears that Earl will be visiting me approximately noon on Saturday as a Cat 1 (that's a change of about 150 miles from when I checked the track last night). But...it probably will change again.

The new track has it coming about 15 miles from my house!!

Already have bottled water (we got a warning from the owner of our sub-division's well system yesterday that if we lose power that we will be under a boil water order IF we are getting water at all).........

I planned on taking a rainy day to catch up on my Disney scrapbook from Sep 09 and start to collect up supplies to get ready to scrapbook my trip in Dec, but without power my craft room would be so dark....and my Cricut wouldn't work...

Tomorrow night we'll be moving the vehicles to the end of the driveway just in case some of those big pine trees decide to break, putting away the lawn furniture, will also fully gas up the vehicles and make sure that we get to an ATM to have "real cash" because if the power is out, the debit/credit card machines don't work....

Everyone take care.

Seems really odd to send my kids off to school this morning with all the people on the national news standing on the beach just 40 min. away. Wish us luck tonight. Why do all the storms have to hit in the middle of the night? :confused3
