Hurricane Dorian / WDW Theme Parks Discussion

Everyone is getting too excited about the shift. Irma predictions did the same thing. A few days before it hit land, majority of the weather models had it staying out on open ocean.

I'm not saying it won't do that, but don't take it as absolute.

I completely agree. Dh doesn’t want to leave the house and is basing it all on the latest track. They literally have no idea where this thing is gonna go

Everyone needs to keep their guards up. So much has happened track wise in the last 24 hours but so much can happen again in the next 24! it wasn’t supposed to turn due west until later today and it did this morning. It also sped up a bit so if we don’t see the slow down they are expecting until later Florida can still be in trouble. Just keep praying it continues to trend east and everyone is safe from the storm
Yes, exactly. The local news called today our wait and watch day for inland counties. Don’t eat your hurricane rations. Don’t undo your prep work. It can all change in an hour. We found that out with Charley. It was on a course for Tampa, and in the space of an hour turned into southwest Florida and up the state. A lot of people had evacuated Tampa and come over to Disney and ended up right in the middle of the storm. If they had remained home, they would have been safer. You just don’t know.

I am hoping it goes even farther to the east, but until it does so, I am keeping my eyes on it.

11am has it even more east. Way off Florida coast. That would be great. If it keeps going even more east it would go out to sea.

Do you get an anytime FP for that particular attraction? Or an anytime FP for any attraction?

Thinking that if it constantly raining, some of the weather subject attractions could be closed potentially all day.

In the event I have an anytime FP, how does that affect ability to pick up 4th+ FP?

Anytime FP do not block you from picking up more fp. At parks with tiers, a tier 1 fp that converts to anytime should be valid on anything; tier 2 will be valid on tier 2’s. At MK, 7DMT, PP, and maybe some of the m&g’s are excluded, though any anytime fp is always valid at the attraction it was originally for. So def keep your Splash. Splash won’t close for rain though, very few things do. It’s lightening, very strong winds, or torrential downpours that close rides.

Not exactly, Florida was in the cone the entire time

We are coming from Pa, supposed to fly out early Tuesday morning also to stay at All Star Sports. Decided yesterday we are going to fly out Sunday instead. Disney was really great about adding the 2 extra nights.
So you are adding days? You are the first person I have seen going earlier, but that has been in he back of my mind the whole time. We are set to arrive early Tuesday, but if things keep going in a good direction I wondering if we should go on Sunday to make sure we can get there. I’m worried that with the airport closure Monday, then airport/airlines may have issues on Tuesday even if Disney is totally fine. How did you decide this was the right move and did you get a discount on the extra days?

*We are coming from Houston so no stranger to hurricanes.

I’m thinking about doing the same thing! We are set to fly out of Pittsburgh Tuesday at 6am ....but now MCO is closing and I’m not sure when it will re-open. So now my options are 1) go early, on Sunday, stay two extra days. At least we would be there and I know the airport is open. 2) do nothing and keep my fingers crossed 3) reschedule for Thursday and try to book two days on the end and reschedule fast passes and dining. I just don’t know what to do.

Exact same options. We could shift everything back a couple of days, but would have to redo hotel and such. We are coming in 2 groups, one from Houston and one from Austin, and it is hard to trust that MCO and Southwest will have everything on track on Tuesday.

The MCO airport closure was posted yesterday on their website. There is no indication as to how long they will be closed. Last time I checked it said they will halt operations as of 2;00 a.m. on Monday. There was no time given when they will begin flights again.

Does anyone have other info? Or has anyone heard when the airport will reopen?

Forgive me if I’m being dense here, but isn’t airport reopening dependent upon what actually happens with the storm?

We pretty much decided after I heard the airport was closing that we either go Sunday or we are possibly screwed, maybe missing half our vacation. I called Disney and they said I could stay at the same hotel, add 2 extra days to my free dining and it was on them. I don't know how we got so lucky, because I haven't heard that happen to anyone else, but we got super pixie dusted. LOL The airline (SW) let me change the flight for free because of the hurricane.

the hotel was on them????

It won’t be good for Mine Train if it wasn’t a Mine Train FP. Pretty sure everything else is a go.

We used ours before trying for a 4th, so I am not 100% sure on that. It’s lightning that’s a problem. Not rain.
Actually we had anytime FPs in August at the MK and the only thing we weren’t allowed to use them on was Meet Mickey and Minnie. Everything else was fair game.
