Hurricane Dorian Forces Disney Dream to Alter Sailings

What a bonus for the Friday cruisers but what about those on the two night cruise I guess the 50% refund and $250 stateroom credit is worth the troubles of going.

I wonder if the people on the 2 night cruise will get Castaway Club credit or if it will be like the 2 night San Diego cruises that don't qualify.

I'm not sure how many people will view the extra 2 days as a bonus, since it will impact their post-cruise travel plans if they flew.

that is if they can get a flight out after the cruise. Also love how the above link above has the cruise itinerary listed as such. Notice how the dates are not even for this year. LOL

The new August 30th, 5-night cruise is as follows:
  1. Sunday August 30, 2020 – Port Canaveral
  2. Monday August 31, 2020 – At Sea
  3. Tuesday September 1, 2020 – Cozumel
  4. Wednesday September 2, 2020 – At Sea
  5. Thursday September 3, 2020 – Castaway Cay
Friday September 4, 2020 – Port Canaveral (Debarkation)

The 50% refund doesn’t make sense to me. A 4 night cruise gives you 3 full days. (At sea, Nassau, and CC). They’re turning it into a 1 day (just CC) if I read correctly. You lose 2 of the 3 full days. The refund should be something around 66% in my opinion. I would be canceling.

Plus they are getting the $250 onboard credit so maybe that is where the 50% to 66% difference is factored in. Really its not worth the effort to even go on. By the time the person has invested money in flights and transportation to the port just to end up taking a 2 day cruise that you may or may not get off of the ship is not worth it. And whose to say they can even get on a flight to get there.

Oh my god, maybe I need to start booking during hurricane season. So either your 4 day cruise gets a free extra day (and port!) or your 3 day cruise gets rid of Nassau (lame-o port anyway), keeps castaway cay, and gets 50% off????!!!!??? Those both sound super awesome to me.

No, the 3 night is getting 2 extra days, and the 4 night became a 2 night.

Disney put my friend scheduled on the 9/2 onto tomorrow’s 8/30 for the same price.

I don't think it is awesome; you will have trouble rebooking flights if they are making up after cancellations, and if you would say "I don't want to go on a 2 day, I'll do WDW" you have to hope they have a room open.
This is another reason to have insurance.

Getting on the cruise is one thing, getting off and out of Orlando to fly back home would be another. If I were retired and could just hang out someplace - saying you could book and get to a hotel it would be one thing. If you are working or have kids starting school, it would be a whole other issue.

At this point in my life, I would have to cancel and rebook the cruise.

Hope it all works out and it will be interesting to hear the stories when people return.

I said that this morning. I think they may have made the call on Monday's cruise a little too early.

And yet some even on here were saying they didn’t call it early enough. The unpredictability of storms is WHY they are between a rock and a hard place. People will complain either way. (I am not judging. Just saying there is no way they can make everyone happy with these things.)

Yeah I mean they did what they had to do. So no judgement there. I just always prefer they wait until we get a little bit closer because the further out they make a call with these things. They always tend to air more on the side of caution when they don't necessarily have to. But hey 50% off the cruise and Disney basically paying for the excursions we booked is fine by me. Sad it's not longer but we'll book another not hurricane season cruise next time.

Unfortunately they couldn't adjust the Friday cruise without effecting the Monday. Unless they decided to cancel the friday one and risk having to cancel Monday as well.

Understandable just bummed cause I feel like we probably would have been able to make it out of the port on Monday.

When did that happen? I’ve been on tons of San Diego two night cruises and have always gotten credit towards Paltinum status with castaway club.

so people cruising today get more nights for same price? disney didn't make them pay more! I'm shocked!
