Wednesday, October 17th - Third Time's a Charm Thanks to Birthday Karma
**As an aside, do you guys know how hard it is to type when you have the pizza/beer hiccoughs?**
This has nothing to do with food, but I wanted to share it anyway. Thanks for letting me.
We left the Translucent Toilet and our pooh-py friends right around 9AM. It was a gorgeous hot morning and what more could an achy crohn ask for on her birthday? The more hot the weather the less my joints hurt. I was practically skipping around the MK when I suddenly pulled up short and nearly impaled myself on a lamp post.
"What?"
"Shhhhhhhh!" I responded, pointing to a group of blue-clad, vest-wearing CMs. "That's the dream team walking towards the left side of the park. No one ever goes left ... let's follow them and see what they're up to."
I know what you're all thinking: Brenda, you just can't stalk the Dream Team and win a prize because everything is random and besides, they hate it when people do that; especially needy, over-eager DINKS.
But we played it cool... didn't even talk to them or about them. We just wandered towards Liberty Square, trailing behind the Dream Team, when I suddenly remembered that the Haunted Mansion had recently been re-habbed. Jay and I decided that this was where we would part ways with the Dream Team. Although we were sure we wouldn't be on the receiving end of any pixie dust from them, it was still exciting to know that they were in the park and that some lucky guests were going to win a prize. I just hoped we'd get a chance to see it happen.
The Dream Team was long gone once we exited the Haunted Mansion and decided to wander into Fantasy Land ... we had two choices before us: It's a Small World or Peter Pantsless. Yes, I know it's a terrible nickname for a classic childrens' attraction, but irreverence is something Jay and I do really well. And you Simpsons fans out there will know from whence this came.
Being the birthday girl I was given the choice, and opted for Peter Pantsless, which we didn't get to ride on our last visit. And it really is one of our favorite attractions in Fantasy Land, especially now that Mr. Toad's Wild Ride has been taken over by the lame adventures of Winne the Pooh.
I must confide something to you all, and it is this: I am that person who, when given a 50/50 choice, always chooses wrong.
Always.
You can ask Jay - I have a 50% chance to choose correctly and I will invariably pick the wrong answer. So I'm sure you can all imagine my disbelief when we exited Peter Pantsless and found a vest-wearing CM waiting for us with a big smile and a "Congratulations! You're Winners in the Walt Disney World Year of a Million Dreams Giveaway!"
Squee!!! Squeal!!! Squeegee!!!
We won Dream Fastpasses for the day at the Magic Kingdom! We were totally pumped to have won something - this was our third visit since the YOMD promotion began last year and we had never seen anyone win a prize and had certainly never won anything ourselves. Now we were on the receiving end of some birthday pixie dust and we had a couple of really cool keepsakes from what turned out to be our only visit to the Magic Kingdom during our entire stay.
I could hear Grimace in the back of my head, "Wow Brenda, today must be your lucky day. Too bad you can't buy lottery tickets at WDW."
I make this Dream Fastpass look good!
Fastpass return? I'm not giving this back!
C'mon you wimps, let's ride Space Mountain!
And there you have it. A lovely little gift from Mickey and Company on my birthday in the most magical place you could ever want to be - something Jay and I will never forget that had us grinning from ear to ear for the rest of the morning.
In the next post I guarantee you we will return to food with a report on Casey's and toothsome treats from the Boardwalk Bakery. That will be followed by a DISmeet at Martha's Vinyard and a monster birthday meal at Bistro Paris and then... more dessert!
BTW ... thanks for letting me use the adjective toothsome! For some reason it just cracks me up.
