Called my travel agent to add another night onto our trip in September (itinerary was becoming too crowded). She calls me back and says that the AKL savannah room is no longer available for the extra night, and i will either have to upgrade to the Arusha savannah to have one more day of free dining, OR downgrade to a standard view room and have no free dining for our extra day. I don't care about the extra day of free dining -- my concern in having to switch rooms on our last day! What a hassle! Is that even worth it?! Why can't we just stay where we are???

If the extra night was at the beginning, I'd say do it. But it wouldn't be worth it to me to have to move for 1 night at the end. There has to be availability when adding days as having something already booked does not guarantee you can keep the same room type if you choose to extend your stay. I would have your TA keep checking as people do cancel and your room type could become available between now and your trip. Good luck.

It sounds like all of that type of room are booked up. That is why you can't stay where you are. Have you TA check every so often. Hopefully one will open up for you.

You are going during a free dining promotion. People jump on that quicker than a flea will jump on a mangy dog.

This would be your last night. Just pack things for one night and get everything else packed up for your trip home. I think that might be the easiest solution and you would have minimal packing on your departure day.

Might just work out to your advantage. And BTW - Disney will move your bags for you - you don't have to do it yourself.

Because other guests have booked that room category and hold confirmed reservations. If they don't have the space, how can they give it to you?

I agree, keep checking, room inventory changes all the time!

We had the exact same thing happen with us but our room is at the Wilderness Lodge. The odd thing was that the room was showing available on the full price, room only part of Disney's website. I kept calling back every day and on day FIVE I finally got an agent that was able to add it for me (even though it never showed as available on the Disney website for free dining). We now have it, with free dining and all. Keep trying :) I'd call Disney directly.

I know it seems crazy. It has to do with room availability at the time you are going and under the promo you are using. Disney only allows certain numbers of each category room for each booking type...TA , online, WDW direct, promo vs no promo...and often certain categories are limited. Also, as a pp mentioned it has probably been already booked. I would just keep trying...you may get what you want.
