The Rasmussan group is showing Bush 49% and Kerry 45%.

Ah, sweet mystery of life................

So it depends on the one you look at....guess I'll look at the one with the biggest lead. :teeth:

Sure , or as my father used to say...............nevermind what my father used to say. ;)

Yanno, it's a funny thing, but the caveat we hear most about polls
is something along the lines of "it's how you ask the question".

Well here's how the Time pollster asked the question:

"Suppose the 2004 election for president were being held today, and you had to choose between John Kerry and John Edwards, the Democrats, and George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, the Republicans. For whom would you vote?" If undecided: "Even though you haven't made up your mind yet, do you lean more toward supporting Kerry or Bush?"

So the Times poll removed part of the undecided by asking them who they "lean" towards supporting, not who they'd vote for.

Apparently, Zogby and Rasmussen asked the straight line question of "who are most likely to vote for" without asking the undecideds to choose which way they're leaning.

That twist in asking the undecided who they lean towards may've skewed the results.

What does it all mean........your quess is as good as mine.

This is why I never trust polls. They can ask a question in a certain way that would make someone lean in a certain direction.

Crankyshank...its so nice to be quoted ;) Wouldn't mean much to me either except it was one of the FIRST things Kerry mentioned. It MUST have been real important to him. Just goes to show, he'll say ANYTHING whether true or not to make himself look like the "average joe" hmmmmm....I wonder what else he has said.

"“For three days in New York, instead of talking about jobs and the economy, we heard anger and insults from the Republicans. And I'll tell you why. It's because they can't talk about the real issues facing Americans. They can't talk about their record because it's a record of failure. I believe it's time to move America in a new direction; I believe it's time to set a new course for America.” - John Kerry, September 3, 2004

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Today's CNN/USA Today/Gallup tracking poll continues to give George W. Bush an advantage over Vice President Al Gore.

While not a prediction of the voters' choice in November, Friday's results show Bush garnering 52 percent of the vote and Gore drawing 39 percent. The survey of 851 likely voters was conducted October 24-26 and has a 3.5 percentage point margin of error

actually, he has probably been ahead all along. most polling is done inner city, where most Dems are.

How would that explain the same pollsters having Bush over Gore by 13 points just before the 2000 election?

The Newsweek and Time polls show Bush leading significantly. My guess is that this reflects Kerry's internal polling because he sure is acting desparate lately.

Yeah, and Kerry's SENATE record WASN'T talked about during the entire DNC convention because it won't get him elected.

Grog...are you being facetious? LOL! I like the looks of the rest of that map. ;)
