I'm glad to hear he's doing better.

Can you add a extra day (or two) to the trip so that you don't have to rush? You could take it in stages: Fly out on day one, settle into a hotel near the airport. Then the next day take a limo to the port. Make it a leisurely trip rather than a rushed thing.

Also, streamline your baggage so that you have less "stuff" to deal with.
