I know there are whispers that this ride will close. I also know that a lot of people think it's tired, so what would you think of bringing in Disney's classic live movies. Classics such as Herbie, Parent Trap, Bednobs and Broomsticks, Pollyanna, Shaggie Dog, Monkeys Uncle, 2000 leagues under the sea, etc What would you like to see replace it. I think this would do a great to introduce a younger generation to the movies we grew up with and would take care of the Turner Classic issue, but yet keep a live aspect to the ride. If they did this what movies would you like to see in this ride.

I personally like the idea, though I don't think it'd work too well to most guests. Those movies aren't remembered as much anymore. Maybe if they just made it a ride-through history of the Disney studios, with several set pieces for the major milestones, both animated and live action.

I think it more likely they will eventually gut the building and put in a different ride here, but I wouldn't expect anything to happen until Star Wars and Toy Story are complete.

I'd like to see a few of the movies they currently have replaced, but not by any of the ones you mentioned lol. Some of those I've never even heard of.

In a way I'd be sad to see it go. On our last trip several years ago my kids wanted to ride it over and over. They were 11 and 7 I think. Good memories. Heading back June 4 so we'll ride it again for what will most likely be the last time.

This is why it makes little sense to change the scene choices.

If guests have not heard of the true Hollywood legends and films depicted in the ride NOW,
just what stars and films SHOULD they put in there that younger audiences would "all" find exciting?

Today's culture is absolutely fragmented with so many individuals just watching movies in isolation from others... on their smart phones.

This is true, but I think the problem with the ride as it is now is that very few of the movies referenced in the ride are less than 30 years old. Perhaps mix in a few more "modern" classics with what there is now.

I would agree, but my conjecture is "what would those be?"

Due to fragmentation of younger audiences, there are no longer many (any?) "classics" that the majority of Americans (much less international visitors) would know.

Obviously Star Wars and Harry Potter (one they will have covered, the other they CAN'T have.)

Star Trek?
Die Hard?
Lethal Weapon?
Twilight?
Galaxy Quest? (They HAVE Sigourney.) ;)

I can hear the "what's THAT?" ringing out from all over. :)

Exactly the problem from my perspective. What would they be?

Seriously, though, I think it would be difficult to change the movies and still keep the spirit of the concept in any meaningful way. If I polled my kids on 10 classics to put here, I would get 10 unique answers from each one, and those would change on a weekly basis. I think if you change it and intend to keep it somewhere close to the current idea of the ride, you would have to change it to all Disney IP. Maybe that will still touch a large part of the fan base, but it just would never be the same for me. I know... I'm too nostalgic. (But that's what classics are, right? Nostalgia...)

One that does come to mind that most guests may at least acknowledge as a classic is
The Sound of Music.

(Still, a film that's "old.")

I guess it would be really easy to update the Aliens section. Put a Galaxy Quest uniform on Sigourney, and have Tim Allen drop out of the ceiling!

TGMR enticed my DD to look up movies such as Alien and Casablanca etc and watch them when we returned home. Even Good Morning Vietnam and Gone with the Wind were on her list simply based on the movie montage at the end of the ride.

To me, that's what the ride is trying to accomplish. The history and the (sort of) now of movies.

I'll be bummed when/if it's replaced but at this point I think it's inevitable.

That's the point. It would be enough to entice the audience into getting to see some of Disney's live actions that some people don't know about. Even things like the Apple Dumpling Gang.

That's why I think Disney could use this as a great marketing tool to incorporate movies from their huge vault of live movies.

They have such a huge library of movies they can update it every few years and it wouldn't take much. It will keep it new and fresh I think if they rotated out movies.
