What is their pool like? I saw a beach area, does the pool have sand on the bottom of it. How is the waterslide?

The pool does not have a sand bottom. There is a "beach" section on one side of the pool that is sand. The rest of the area around the pool is paved. At it's deepest part the pool is 4"6" deep. There is a pool slide. There are also underwater speakers so you even hear the music under water.

Does anyone else besides my 7 yr old think that the "life vest for under 48 inches" really STINKS??? The first lifeguard let him go on it several times w/o the vest..then the next one on duty told him he had to wear it! Mind u the water is only, like, 3 ft deep at the bottom of the slide and the slide doesn't go very fast. My son is an outstanding swimmer but it doesn't matter. I'm sure its for insurance purposes, but it would be better if they had the rule not by height but for those that are "non swimmers". Just a little "peave"

Geez, they really do that?! That seems rather odd. I wouldn't like to see that happening to my sisters!

I'm glad they made my son wear the lifevest! He doesn't know how to swim, not just yet and my son doesn't like wearing any floaties. He liked the slide...but he only slid one time only. I think he got a little scared. Maye he'll do better next time.

Even if my son can swim, I don't mind them enforcing the vest, it doesn't make any thing bad, but for safety.

I am confused by the pool being only 4 1/2 feet deep. My 15 year old is 6'3"............ it seems odd that is will be so shallow.

We visited the HR pool while staying at the RP, I thought my daughter would like the slide. She only went down twice and like *Fantasia* said about her son, I think she got a little scared too, though she wouldn't admit it. Yes the pool is fairly shallow and I noticed at the RP there is a large shallow area too. That is a good thing for me because it gives my daughter a large area to play in without me worrying that she will get in over her head.

Yes, the pool is in large part shallow. We did enjoy it though. Since it's a 0 entry and has the beach, it gives you the feel of being in the caribbean sea (if that makes sense). We rented a cabana for 1/2 day, the afternoon/evening, it was great! We were able to sit at our cabana and watch the fireworks over the hotel. Also included in the price was water and a fruit basket. There is a fridge and a celing fan inside, with table and chairs and loungers. This was in 2001, not sure if they still offer this, but if they do, I would recommend it.:D

This is what I love about HRH, the depth of the pool is shallow. I feel more secure with my 6 yr old son to go in the pool by himself without me being right next to him.

PRP is also shallow but there's some areas where it is pretty deep for him and for me as well. We liked both pools, but I do prefer HRH just a little more. I like both resorts.
