HRH or PBH suite

Just checked the AAA rates for August - I'm tryind to decide if paying extra for Queen suite is worth it. the kids hate sleeping together (12 and 14) and HRH suite also has sofabed but is 332/night while PBH is 279/night.
Have never been before - any suggestions ???

I'm not clear on your room types at each hotel. They have different suites at each.

The deluxe rooms at both the Hard Rock and the Portofino have pull out couches to eliminate your problem.

I did not know that PBH also had sofabed.

Specifically I'm looking at the Queen suites at each resort:
AAA rates are 332 for hrh and 279 for pbh or could book pool view room and do the mastercard deal for free upgrade and one night stay free (more than 4 nights)
OR.....
since pbh rooms are slightly bigger could just book std room for 239 AAA and updrade to pool view w/loews and take an air mattress
Wow so many decisions-and I thought this would be easier than Disney
My DS(14) really wants to stay at hrh but my DD(12)does not care of coarse I want to save $$$ and be comfy - have only stayed at Disney moderates for comparison. Any more suggestions...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the reason everyone is a little confused is because you are saying "queen suite" when what you are talking about is a "standard queen room". I'm not 100% sure about PHB, but the HRH doesn't have queen suites.

When are you going? How many people are going to be in the room? Check to see what the AAA rates for the queen deluxe rooms, those have a pull out sofa. Then you wouldn't have to bring a air mattress. You guys are going to LOVE universal!

There will be 4 of us - PBH std rooms are cheaper but my son is set on HRH.
If I go w/ std at HRH is there enough floor space for an air mattress??

Yes there is.

But if you go with the deluxe in the HRH there is a full pullout and in PBH there is a single pullout.

The suites have two rooms where the standard and deluxe rooms have one.

You could always promise your son a day at the pool at HRH. It is less than a 10 minute walk along a beautifully landscaped path. Pool hopping is allowed. So, you can stay at PBH and swim at HRH. To make it even better, you could also rent a cabana at HRH.
