My brother and friends just got back from HRH yesterday. They were told at both parks that their room key had to be scanned for fotl. They were also told that it would work only one time for each ride per day? Is this true or is he pulling my leg? Has loews changed this- is this a new policy?

The cards are often scanned. Haven't heard about them limited ride access though.

Thats new to me.Tell Ya what if it comes down to this. They are going to loss alot of buiseness @ the hotels I can tell you that...

i go around the columbus day weekend for the last 4 years.
my hotel card key has always been scanned in the express lane.

the only time that i can remember the fotl was limited in the past few years, was when shrek opened up.
i think that it lasted for 4 weeks until the crowds for shrek stablized more and express lane cut back.

no, i can't believe that one hotel would be cut from the fotl program.
it has been my understanding that it is a perk that universal has the hotels provide.

on the other hand, nothing surprises me today...:rolleyes1

just remember that the hotel cards were limited to once per hour when a new ride was introduced for the hotel guest visiting in the month of july.

guess the crowds are greater in july and universal did a limit once per hour for mummy and shrek the year they opened.

one year it lasted until august for the fotl limitations.

it was just a temp thing and i haven't seen or heard it happening lately.

A few years ago when we were the during July 4th week, they limited FOTL with your room key to one time each ride until about 3:00. They never really enforced it though!

yea, i was there that summer, and shrek was just opened that year.

universal lifted that though early august.

think it went during all july and early august that year.

the premiere pass holders get free fotl after 4 each day

I don't know why your brother and his friends were restricted. The hotel express is still unlimited express after 10:00 AM.

I was there last year, checked out on July 4th and there were no restrictions to fotl.

Last summer end of June we were told FOTL access was limited to once per ride until after a certain hour. I don't remember the details as we didn't want to ride anything over & over or even a 2nd time usually. I do think we got on OneFish Two fish more than once tho.

Last year we were restricted to once per hour. We rode MIB and wanted to get back on and when they scanned my card it was rejected and they asked me if I had been on within the hour and I said yes. However, while we were there in April, not once was my card scanned. While they hold a scanner, I think they only use it when the park is busier and not all rides.

Thats funny is the website clearly states unlimited FOTL for onsite guests.

"Enjoy unlimited entries to your favorite attractions and shows at both Universal Studios® and Universal's Islands of Adventure®, completely at your convenience."

Thats what you are paying for to get this perk along with hotel conveinence. I hope this does not happen next week while I'm there.:thumbsup2

For those of you that have been restricted on the hotel express, please let them know at Guest Services. There are no restrictions on the FOTL at this time. The only time the policy was changed was a few years ago in the summer when Shrek just opened. That restriction lasted less than a month and was changed.

It is always a possibility that the hotel pass may have restrictions placed on it in the future. But at this time, there are no restrictions on how often you can use it.

When I called to make my ressie today I asked about this and was told that Hard Rock will always be included in the FOTL program as it is a perk offered from Universal Studios, so no matter what changes are happening July 15th with Loews, the FOTL will still stand and there is no restrictions. :thumbsup2

Just returned and our card was scanned at maybe 50% of the attractions. We went on MIB three time sin one hour and our card was scanned each time. No proble, - not even an alien glimpse at us!

I was there in Aug 07 for 4 days. Not once did they scan any of our hotel keys for fotl. As a matter of fact, they barely even glanced at them.:confused3
