Carly: *hugs for fixing her hand* Umbridge is wicked. She has some messed up quill. When you write with it, it cuts it into the back of your hand! I got a letter from Crystal last night. Is she ok?

Crystal: *laughs* No, I'm not a werewolf. Two summers ago I was doing a magical experiment when something went badly wrong, and the magic branded me. It stopped hurting long ago, but my mum said I'll probably have it for the rest of my life. I'm very lucky I didn't lose the use of my arm completely, or died. Anyway, I scratched it last night, and it's been bugging me more than a regular scratch. Maybe because of the magic, I'm not sure. *shifts her sleeve so the two of them can see the crystalline rhombus on her shoulder and the pinkish red line that goes acoss it diagonally*
