I remember reading back when Diagon Alley opened you could exchange your old wand for the new interactive wands for a nominal charge. Are they still doing that, does anyone know how much it is to upgrade and do we need to have the box from the old ones?

Also, how much use can you get out of the interactive feature? We have 3 boys and I can foresee a bit of a competition with each of them wanting to be the ones to cast the spells. So I'm not entirely sure if we should even consider this.

Lastly, I'm also not sure if we want to carry them around all day. If we are staying onsite, is there anyway we can go back to the store and ask for them to be sent to our room or do we have to take them back to our room?

Thanks!!

Sorry don't know answer to upgrade. My dd was almost 9 and got lots of use out of the interactive wand in diagon alley and hogs mead. As well as the ones listed there are some hidden spells. It was probably her favourite thing.

I've never heard of that exchange program.

You can have packages sent to your room but it usually happens late or the next day. I would just get a locker if you don't want to carry them or just take a quick walk back to the room.

I asked about exchanging the old wands for the new ones last year and was told they do not exchange old wands for new interactive wands. We talked to the manager and she did give us 20% off the new interactive wand.

I've never heard of this. I did exchange my wand, but we had the receipt and I hadn't left universal for the day. However, the kids around the parks looked like they were having a blast with the interactive wands. At some point Im pretty sure I saw an employee start a duel with someone. There's secrets to the map... like taking it in knockturn alley and using it under the blacklight. If money isn't an issue I really would recommend getting them!

My 3 boys had a blast with theirs! They had friendly competitions to see who could get them to work first, helped each other work the spells, and had a great time keeping track of them on the map and trying to find them all (PSST, there are a few secret ones that are not on the map.)
They even compared notes and maps with other kids when we were pausing for a drink break and waiting in lines.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was sure I had read it on here last year but I guess I'm mistaken....it's funny though, because I can remember several people posting about it on the same thread. Anyhoo, thanks for the info.

What you may have read was that if when if you got picked at Ollivanders and the wand that chose you was not an interactive wand, you could exchange it for an interactive one.

Perhaps that was it but I remember posters saying they were given credit towards the interactive wand for their original wand.....maybe I dreamt it all up (but it seemed so real) ;)

If you don't want to spend the money on 3 interactive wands, you could get one and have the boys share. Even if all 3 have interactive wands, they still need to take turns doing the tricks. So, I don't think you save any or much time by having 3 wands. You could say the interactive wand is mommy's or daddy's, so that they don't fight about only one getting a new wand.
