I am looking into buying a new digital. As much as I would LOVE a large Nikon...the money just isn't there for that! My first and current digital is a Kodak Easyshare CX6330...only a 3.1MP however today I was looking at the HP Photosmart R967. Does anyone have one of these that might be able to tell me how you like it?

OR if you have a camera that you just love and would like to tell me about it for me to check out that would be great too!!

I am going to Universal in April and really would like a new camera for the trip.

With that much, you have many options. What are the features that you want the most? That one seems pretty small, so is that important? I would not get it for at least two reasons. It is a 10MP, which almost always ends up being very noisy. That is just to many MPs to get out of a p&s sensor. In fact, 10MP often ends up being a little much on a DSLR sensor. Some models bump up the noise reduction to make it less noisy, but that just reduces the sharpness, so it really is no better than something like a 6MP. Also, it has a fake image stabilization mode. All it does to reduce shake blur is up the ISO, which adds noise. Also, you can do that yourself on almost any camera.

Take a look at the Canon "A" and "SD" lines. The "S" line is also very nice, but they may be larger than you want. Also, Fuji has some respected low light models right now, but I am not sure which ones.

Read some reviews at places like http://www.steves-digicams.com/, http://www.dcresource.com/, and http://www.dpreview.com/

Thank you Kevin for that info. I will certainly look into those that you suggested.

I have two HP cameras. The first one (3.1MP) I absolutely loved, but it got old and beaten up and was pretty big. The second one (5MP) came as part of a printer bundle. It takes a pretty nice picture and is fairly small, but the battery life is abysmal: 8 shots using flash, and time for new batteries. Drives me crazy. I've read that this is common in the newer HPs, but I don't know for sure if it's true in the model you mention, maybe they've fixed it. Find a site that has reviews for the camera and read as many as you can.

What Kevin says is true (as I've learned from him and others from reading here). Look for something with less MP if you want a point and shoot camera. You will still get nice quality photos.

Do you want to slip your camera in your purse? Or do you want to carry a camera bag? Some of the new cameras that have extra features are a little bigger. I bought the Canon S3 IS and it requires a bag (I still keep my HP in my purse but am looking to replace it too simply because of the battery issue.) You really need to ask yourself how you'll be using the camera and how you like to carry it.

If you like your Kodak I probably wouldn't discount buying another. They make a lot of different models (including one similar to the S3) and if you're already familiar with using the brand it might put you a step ahead on the learning curve. There is a poster here 2angelsinheaven who has some beautiful shots and her camera is a Kodak P&S. Beautiful photos aren't completely about the camera; they're about the photographer, too. Think about how you want to use the camera and make a decision based on that.

Best of luck. :shamrock: And be sure to let us know what you decide.

I have had a couple HP cameras prior to purchasing my S2, and I was very happy with the photos, but I have to agree that both of them had very short battery life - one used 4 AA and the other a rechargeable lithium battery. I loved the small size, but have gotten very accustomed to the larger S2 - I now look "touristy" with it hung around my neck or over my shoulder. When I get tired of schlepping it it goes my my handbag (on the days we travel light to the parks) or in a nice compact sized camera bag!

For the money, I love my S2 and what I have been able to accomplish with it!

Well friends, after all my thinking about the HP I ended up going out and buying a new Kodak Easyshare. I got the 8MP. I just bought it lastnight and really haven't had much time to play with it. Hopefully this weekend.
I previous camera was a Kodak 3.1 and I really never had any trouble with it....my daughter will now enjoy it.

Thanks for all your help and advice and I hope to share many pictures with you all from my new camera!!!:cool1:

I will be heading to Universal in April and plan on putting my new camera too good use!!!
