HP and the Deathly Hallows

I'm really impressed with how well they told the story. Most of the other movies have bits that were changed or completely made up. This one may be the most accurate and true to the HP books. :thumbsup2

I agree.

I also really loved the animation during the telling of the Deathly Hallows story.

The more I think about it, the more I want to see it again.

I saw a prescreening last night, it was awesome. Definately going to see it again, now that I am not thinking "What is coming next," What they missed from the book, and Where are they going to end it.

I will now be able to enjoy it more. :)

That's how I feel too. I just saw it this afternoon and even though it was a long movie, it didn't seem like it, since I was completely sucked into it.

I absolutely loved it. Loved how the kept to the book and kept probably like 90% of the material from the book. But, counting down the days until July 15 2011. That will be an excellent day for me.:woohoo:

I really, really enjoyed it! I thought it was really true to the book (and it even had a couple of added bits that I actually thought *SHOULD* have been in the book!)

As much as I wish we didn't have to wait until July to see part 2, I am really, really glad they did it as 2 movies, because it allowed them to do it in an unrushed manner, not skipping whole chunks of story like the previous movies did.

It started out dark, and stayed there, although there were some great moments of humor. I was also very impressed by the acting. And the "camping trip" actually worked! It was not over-long and dragged out like it was in the book, but it was not rushed, either.

I saw it on a large screen, but not IMAX. I think I'll go Monday to see it on the IMAX.

SO looking forward to Part 2!!!!!

I'm going to a matinee tomorrow. If I went tonight it would just be filled with all of the high school kids and they are pretty rowdy around here. I wish we had a IMAX theater here. I think the closest is in Denver. I can't wait to see it.

DW and I are going to see it this morning at AMC AM Cinema why pay $10.00 and deal w/ the Friday night crowds when you can pay $6.00 and see it before everyone wakes up on Saturday Morning? :thumbsup2

We are a huge HP loving family here and I have a quick question about the movie.

My DS (9 yrs) is reading the series - he's about done with book #6 and has seen the first 6 movies. We'd like him to read half of book #7 before we see the movie (he's a quick reader), but I don't know where the movie ends in regard to the storyline. Can anyone tell me what the last event of the movie is so I know when he's read far enough?

Thanks so much!!

Have you read the book yet? To avoid spoilers here, I'll just say that the movie ends about 5 pages into Chapter 24 - The Wandmaker.

If you want more details, PM me. :goodvibes

I appreciate your non-spoiler info! I have read the entire series at least 3 times, but I would never want to spoil anything for those who haven't. That is exactly the info I needed :) Thanks so much!

What? Only 3 times? ;)

You're very welcome. I hope your DS enjoys Deathly Hallows, and that all of you enjoy the movie! It's really great!

For those who have seen the movie, is it appropriate for DD (8) and DS (10)? They have read all the books and have seen the first 6 movies. Just wondering if it is too "dark" for this age group. DH is on the conservative side and is concerned about the kids seeing the movie. Should we wait a few more years for this one?

We saw it yesterday and loved it! Two grandparents, DH and I and DS (12). Can't wait for July!!! DS and I have already talked about going to the midnight showing since school will be out.

Frankly, I wouldn't take my daughter if she were 8 or 10.

It's VERY dark. I don't want to list what parts I would have a problem with my daughter seeing because I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

But I think you and your husband should probably see it and determine whether or not you'd feel comfortable taking your kids. It is DEFINITELY worth seeing twice. There's a LOT going on, and I know I'm ready to see it again to try and catch what I missed!

I agree. My children aren't in that age category yet, but I don't think I'd be comfortable with them seeing this movie at 8-10 years old.

I agree, I saw it on Friday and there were children visibly upset in the cinema. It was luck to have been given a 12 a rating. It probably should have been a 15.

Saw it! Loved it! I can't wait for the next one! I would have happily sat there and watched part two - I was so enthralled. Definitely the best movie yet. Splitting it into 2 parts was the only way it would have worked.

If they've read all the books, then they know what will happen. The movie was quite faithful to the book. Perhaps have a discussion before about what scenes could be scary or disturbing.

Oh, yeah, and I thought it was teh awesomeness!!

Haven't seen it yet, but from what I've been told, most of the book was covered in this movie, and a large portion of the last movie this summer will be the final battle (the shootout at the OK corral, as we refer to it).
