My dh works for an electrical utility.... he's a master electrician.... anyway the outfit that owns them now is not nice and are trying to "save money" wherever they can- they have already laid off tons of people (I'd like to see the high mucky-mucks salaries :rolleyes: ) Anyway my brother in law called my dh Friday and told him that his company got a request for them to make a bid on the electrical work that my dh's department does for the company now. So my bil could get my husband's job in a round about way. BTW they are identical twins.

It's so depressing.... I'm going to school so we can have some extras... like trips to Disney... more money for investing.... a new vehicle.... etc and now looks like dh will be out of a job by the time I graduate.:(

I am sorry to hear this :( I hope things work out for you and your DH though. Maybe he will be able to find something better soon {{hugs}}

That's too bad. I sure hope things work out for your DH. {{{{{HUGS}}}} to you.

That is ironic, and sad, too. Does your DH have to work for this company, or is there another construction company that he can land a job with? I hope things work out for you, Mermaid.

I am sorry to hear this, too.
I hope things will turn around for the best.

You know, though, things happen for a reason, and there may be something better right around the corner.

My DH lost his job through a corporate takeover. Then we moved back to Ohio to find a job. It was not a great job, but it kept food on the table. He found another, but it never paid the overtime due to him. I was looking through the Columbus Dispatch when I found the job he is at now. Funny thing, he would have never applied for it. They wanted Mac people, he is definately not Mac!
(been there for five years)--Worthington City Schools...

Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep positive...there is something better coming!

My very best to both him and you, Mermaid. Keep up the school work, that's great. And I know things will work out in the long run for you all. {{Hugs}}

What is really bad is that some companys lay-off (I don't know why they don't use the word FIRE. It's not as if they are possibly going to be hiring them back later, which is what a real lay-off is) employees, the execs celebrate by giving themselves huge bonuses with the money they save. I think it should be illegal to fire/lay-off unless the company can prove they are in financial difficulty and that is the only way out :mad:

That is awful to hear about it through such a manner. I will keep you in my thoughts... maybe your DH will be spared in this round of layoffs... and if not... I hope that another door opens that provides an even better situation for you.

I'm sure this is a difficult time for you but there may be something even better in store around the corner. Stick with the school though and good luck.

Hopefully your DH will be OK. My Dad is going through a similar situation. He's moving to Orlando for a different job with the same company. Even at DH's company they've got a BS word for layoff. You're not laid off, your job has been made "redundant.". *HUGS* and prayers to you.
