DH has requsted that I find a good steak at the World, in a location that also would interest our 3 year old. WC looks like it would fit the bill, but can anyone comment on the quality, taste, etc. of the steak? Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Whispering Canyon is not best known for its steaks. If you're really looking for a high quality prime steak, you'll probably want to look elsewhere. All the signature (2TS, i.e., expensive) restaurants serve great steaks. Also, Chefs de France and Coral Reef serve excellent steaks. Other decent, moderately-priced restaurants that serve good steaks include Le Cellier and Concourse Steakhouse.

Thank you for the reply, Bicker! Any of the above more "toddler friendly" than the others? I'm sure my DD would get a kick out of Coral Reef, but I'm not a seafood girl and if the restaurant smelled like seafood, I would be a goner.

The Concourse Steakhouse I think would be your best bet with kids. Although the Yatchsman Steakhouse in the YC has great steaks.

If you can get Le Cellier in Epcot, go there.
It usually books up quickly and has great food.
They serve the best cheese soup and my kids enjoy going there.

Our last family trip, DH had a day he wasn't feeling up to being on the go, so he stayed at the resort for a relaxing day. When he got hungry he went into Whispering Canyon Cafe and ordered a steak. He swears it was the best steak he'd had in a while. Now, he wants to go back just for the steak. So maybe its hit or miss with them? :confused3

We loved the steaks at Kona Cafe, and I would think of it as being child friendly.

Thanks so much for the replies! I'll show this thread to DH when I get home and see what he thinks. *I* think that he'll be so amused with WC that he likely won't even remember the food, but that's just me (I really want to go there). :lmao:

I love steak and I am not a picky person. That being said, I thought the steak at WCC was awful! It was tough and lacked in flavor. WCC gets an A+ for atmosphere, but I'd have to give the steak a D (and that's being nice, lol!). I wish I would have ordered the AYCE skillet...maybe next time!

The Concourse Steakhouse I think would be your best bet with kids.
I disagree. Until it moves away from Chef Mickey's (which is right next door), some kids will be unhappy about eating at such a sedate venue hearing all the fun coming from just over the partial wall.

Concourse Steakhouse is moving soon (and being renamed).

Kona is a better choice IMHO. At least there is a real wall between Kona and 'Ohana.
