On DCL, coffee is terrible! How is it on RCL? Anyone know what brand, not that it really matters as long as it's not nescrape or jeoffreys.

I'd like to know. I thought I read somewhere about Seattle's Best coffee. I do plan on putting money on my Starbucks card so I can get my SB fix on Allure.

We thought the coffee was ok but we always bring flavored creamer. If you like it black, I don't know how good it is :) I bought the coffee card and found the iced lattes to be delicious!

When it's fresh it's not bad. I also add milk or cream or soy creamer for flavor to mask the bitterness.

I find it slightly more drinkable than DCLs, but I might just have been on ships so long now with no other free option that I dont know any different anymore Haha
But at DCL I always had to have my own sachets, but I royal a can suck it up.

There's lots of things to like about DCL. Coffee is definitely not one of those things. :(

So yeah, Royal has drip coffee, and if you do black or just sugar it's... drinkable, but not what I'd call "good". If you're a double-double (2 cream, 2 sugar for non-Canadians) person I don't think you'll notice.

Personally I pack an "emergency stash" of Starbucks VIA singles in a zip-top bag for whenever I need something that actually tastes like coffee. They have instant Timmy's now as well (although not Dark Roast) so I might include that into the pack.

FYI last trip on the Allure you had to ask for a paper cup if you wanted one. Otherwise you're stuck with their mugs, or a travel mug if you bring one.

Horrible. And the reason we bought the refreshment package. DH and I got a double shot americano and it was strong enough. The free coffee is so weak, like a black tea cup. So weak. Also in windjammer all they have is that immitation Crap creamer. I refuse to drink fake milk and prefer half-and-half in my coffee or whole milk. Gives for me for coffee a nice body.

If you like starbucks darknroast drip coffee you will be disappointed

I know I’m not going to get a lot of respect for this but....
I like McDonalds coffees, but not any of the Starbucks coffees.
Other than having my head examined, which coffee options would you recommend for me? What do you think I’ll like?
I’m a no sugar but lots of cream gal.

Whatever blend they're using now is decent. Not the best but at their price point I'd rank it above Tim's Original, below Tim's Dark and way above all Dunkin blends.

We were on the Grandeur last month and there was half and half for the coffe.

We never did any type of drink package on the cruises. The coffee was not bad. Iced tea, not so great, but tolerable. We're not picky though.

I've had pretty good luck with coffee on RCCL. Just a couple misses at the Windjammer, but shame on anyone expecting perfect coffee at an all you can eat buffet line.

I doubt anyone is looking for "perfect" coffee on a cruise ship. But I would expect that the cruise lines should at least clear the very low bar of "drinkable".

I dunno. I've learned some people's expectations for coffee are outrageous. If it was really that tasty to begin with then it wouldn't be surrounded by sugar, creamer, etc... Personally, as long as it's hot I'm okay.

That's basically where I'm at. I'm not a double-double person (I drink coffee black with 1 or 2 sweeteners depending on size) and I've survived on gas station coffee (back when their coffee sat on a burner for who knows how long) for many a trip between Detroit and Toronto.

So I can handle dubious tasting coffee. Which for me, Royal borders on the edge of. It's drip coffee and it's consistent, so at least I know what I'm getting. I still don't really understand why DCL does what they do.
