How's That Coral Reef

I've always wanted to eat at the Coral Reef in Epcot because of the views of the aquarium.

Last January as my family started to walk towards the restaurant around 4:00, there was a very fishy smell outside it. This really turned us off.

So we ended up at the Chefs De France. On my next trip I think I'm going to try it out. How's the food. I don't think we'll be disappointed in the theme.

3 times. Not on our last trip though. But each time we ate there, we enjoyed it. The food, service and the view were good. We will definately go back.

My last trip there was a little disappointing (after numerous fabulous meals previously), but I can recommend the lobster bisque without any hesitation. It's by far the best I've ever had, and for ~$5 or $6, you get a fairly large portion - with bread, it's enough for lunch if you're not a huge eater. You definitely won't be disappointed in the theme, it's beautiful!

My DD and I are there last week. I had a special shrimp dish and she had NY strip steak. Both were excellent! It's a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. We will be going back again!

We ate there this summer with our 3 DDs. Not only did we enjoy the food, but the girls got a kick out of the aquarium. They had scuba divers feeding the fish while we ate. You must try the chocolate wave for dessert! It's wonderful!

How is the kids menu at Coral Reef?

I was thinking this might be a good choice for us on our next trip in hopes that the view of the fish might keep DS entertained while we ate.

Do all of the tables have good views?

The aquarium was nice, but the food/atmosphere was a little too foo-fooey for us. As my husband said, it's one of those places where they PILE your food on top of itself to make a little mountain in the center of this huge, otherwise empty platter. Presentation was like something you'd see on a cooking show on TV. Nice I guess....but we weren't expecting that for lunchtime. Had a two year old with us, too, so it just wasn't the place for us. Maybe for a nice romantic dinner with just DH and me.....

We enjoyed the atmosphere but didn't care for the food. We went at lunch since its "cheaper" but still spent well over $60 for just 2 of us. So we won't be dining at the Coral Reef anymore. I can enjoy the aquarium from the Living Seas without spending that much for lunch. JMHO

We ate there last week and would recommend it. We are a family of 4 - 2 girls ages 7 and 10. We had the aforementioned lobster bisque - very good but a bit salty for my taste. DH also had a salad that he liked so much he refused to share and the mahi-mahi. He said the fish was spicy but very good. I had the tuna with risotta. I refused to share also. It was very good.

One dd had the pizza and one had a chicken breast with mashed potatoes/potatos (where is Dan Quayle when you need him) with green beans. She didn't eat the chicken but loved the veggies. The pizza was around $5 but the chicken meal was closer to $9. My two little gourmands also shared a shrimp cocktail that was super. Very fresh and very large shrimp.

Service was great. Very friendly and accommodating. Surprised us with a birthday cake for our dd who was turning 7. Really good cake.

Total for the meal including 2 beers each with tip was $134. We spent similar amounts at other restaurants during the trip but this was the best by far.

You will love the place!!! The view is just spectacular and the staff there was very friendly and helpful. The food was surprisingly good and they also have nice selection of wines. Our waiter made a few recommendations in that area which we took, and were very glad we did.

There was no "fishy" smell when we went there... of course it was raining like mad when we arrived so I guess that observation isn't all that helpful.

The restaurant doesn't serve what some folks describe as "comfort food," or in other words, bland plates of starch and grease but thoughtfully prepared, creative dishes that are a pleasure to experience.

We went 5 years ago, and we are going back this year and look forward tothe lobster bisque. It was great. I also had a great filet mignon dish that was so good, but I was so full from the soup, I couldn't finish it. I notice it's not on the menu anymore though.

This is my favorite park restaurant, by far. We always go for lunch, get an aquarium side table, and my daughter is mesmerized by the fish while I enjoy a FANTASTIC meal with great service. The grilled mahi mahi is awesome! The peanut butter playdough dessert is a big hit with my daughter as well.
