How's Everyone Doing Out There? (Blizzard)

Here is an update to the photos I posted earlier. (Burlington County, NJ) Looks like we are in for quite the number of inches. This is DH and DS out shoveling outside our apartment.

SEPA here, near the DE border. At least 8" of snow (it's hard to tell with the wind blowing it around) with an 18" drift in front of my patio doors.

My lab mix is loving it but the corgi mix is not happy right now.

At least we still have power, cable and internet. Stay safe, everyone!
Our Bulldog, Winston (seen in the Avatar) is like your Corgi mix,lol...Poor thing had to go outside so bad, but with all the wind/noise & snow he wasn't having any of it (they can be a tad stubborn to say the least!), so I had to pick his highness up and carry him out, and he took over from there with no issues, and he's now resting comfortably, his tongue sticking out, and snoring as per his nominal normal usual:faint: (Until nature calls again, that is)

in MA, howling winds here and ominous looking outside.

Stay safe and warm, everyone!

I read that the full moon isn't helping here, that it may be making things worse with high tides and what not. Bad for shore line areas (where we are!) lots of flooding possible, besides the snow.

We were watching a Chihauahua for the past couple of weeks. He hated going out in the cold even with just a dusting of snow - I can't even imagine how he would be with a couple of feet! Our Cairn loves the snow and did fine with all the snow we got here last year. We did lose him one day, though - he'd somehow tunneled under a huge snow bank on the deck and was hanging out in there, coming out on his own time. Little Shyte (as DH calls him)!

I actually got our mini doxie outside without having to go out myself. Pretty easy to do when he stepped out, took one look at things and peed right by the door :thumbsup2.

Philadelphia checking in. we're at about 15 inches and it's snowing again. We had a brief pause. Tried to get the dog out to lift his leg but he sank in the drifts.

We are in North Georgia right now and the storm has been bad here. We started with ice, then snow, then more ice, and then more, a lot more snow. DH says there is at least a foot on the front porch. I just went out and my guess would be closer to 8" as some of it melted on Thursday and compacted it all down a bit. We lost power once on Wednesday/Thursday, for several hours but we have oil lamps and a wood stove so we were fine. There is no getting out of here. We are about 3/4 of a mile back into a national forest area with a grave/dirt road. A 1/2" of snow closes this area down so you can imagine what a foot is doing. There has been no school all week.

From the forecast it looks like it should all melt on Monday and Tuesday so that is when we will finally be able to get to the main road. We hear a lot of trees are down because of the weight of the ice. We walked part of the way to the main road yesterday and cleaned up as many branches as we could.

Our local sheriff's department posted a video of the areas only salt/sand truck flipped over with a tow truck trying to right it up. That alone will crimp getting the main roads drivable. It has just begun to snow again. It is lovely though!

Western MD here. Woke up to 18" so far and it's still coming down. We have no winds at all though and the temp is 24. Took me 20 min to shovel a path from the door around the car to the woodshed where the stray cats are staying warm and dry in a box, so I could feed them and give them water. Going to take till at least tomorrow to clear this out. I made one path down our long driveway and my arms have had enough already . Stay safe everyone

We're in Mercer County is the 20+ inches bubble. It's coming down sideways now and the wind is howling. We have a mini doxie, I already pulled out his puppy pads because he won't likely be willing to go out the front door.

Stay safe and warm everyone.

We live in Mercer too...I am sweating it over here, lol...I have an 8 month old cocker spanial/terrier mix and shes not even 20 pounds and this is my first "small" dog, LOL. I have a 100 pound pit mix as well and shes ok in the snow, just goes out and does her business, but the puppy just wants to go out and run and play in it. We are leash walking her bc I am so afraid she will get lost in the snow, LOL. I should of got her wee wee pads for this occasion but I wasn't even thinking lol. My hubby is going out every hour to keep shoveled a little square for the dogs but the puppy is crazy LOL. I will have to take some pics when its all over and done with and compare the snow amount to how big the puppy is, LOL

We are in north eastern Maryland - Cecil County - right by DE and PA. So much blowing snow that I can't measure accurately but guess at least a foot. I have 2 golden retrievers and they think it is fun out there.

Northern Delaware here. I'm guessing the snow is about a foot deep. There was a lull earlier, but it's picked up again. Wind is howling. Surprisingly, my street has been plowed already. I heard the plows about 1am, and saw them again about 8am.

Another 6 to 12 inches of snow is predicted. Not a record breaker.

About 10 minutes ago it turned into sleet/rain.

We are in the south, but in a spot where we got with the front and the backside of this thing.
We did get several inches, and are def. 'snowed in'.
It started out with a pretty good amount of ice and sleet, so def. a big impact!
My son is out using the neighbor's (who is from the North) little snowblower to clear our driveway and a few other neighbors driveways.

Be careful of hidden downed live wires!

Be careful of hidden downed live wires!

Thanks for thinking of us. We are being very careful. The wires to this house are all underground because of the problems with trees coming down but once we hit the main road everything is above ground and this is where the trees bring the wires down and cause us to lose power.

We are well supplied with wood for a wood stove, lamp oil for the lamps, propane for a camp stove on the deck and a gas grill. Of course we have milk, bread and eggs so we can survive anything! LOL!

Our biggest problem is when the power goes out we are a bit isolated in terms of communications. Our cell phone gets very little signal in this house any time. I can not send pictures from here, although sometimes a text will go through and sometimes the phone rings but you can seldom actually talk. The house phone is actually a Magic Jack linked to the internet server but when the power goes, you lose that option too. Because of this we are very vigilant about safety. This kind of weather is unusual here and hopefully it will warm up soon.

This is our "minute by minute" forecast from one of the weather sites:

Apparently, we were meant to get a slight break at 11:32. :rotfl:

(In actuality, it hasn't really started yet.)
