to cancel Sept trip already planned (with free dining) and reschedule in Nov. early Dec. I'll just be starting my new job 2 weeks before scheduled trip and hate to leave on vacation that soon.

Tell me about the weather/crowds etc. during that time of the year. I need someone to sell me on it so I won't feel as bad about cancelling for Sept.

Thanks.

Jen

We have gone to DW about a half dozen times in early December (1st week) and have decided it is the BEST time to go! The decorations make Disney World very special. The Osbourne lights are spectacular. The Candlelight Procession is not to be missed (we went 3 times last year). Not too crowded that week, tends to get more crowded towards the middle of December. Last year we went in December and February. There just seemed to be some "magic" missing in February.

December is great. We only go in Dec or early Jan and Dec is my favorite. Low crowds & holiday decorations. MVMCP & lights in MGM -you can't beat it. Value rates. Nice weather; we very rarely run into rain. I would pick Dec over Sept anytime. Have fun whatever you decide. But in my book, you can't go wrong with a Dec trip.

We've gone several times in early dec and love it. Crowds can be low (watch out for the cheer groups). Weather wise it's a little hard packing. We've worn shorts and t-shirts the entire time and other time pants, sweatshirts and fleece jackets. WDW decorated for xmas is special.

Went to Disney Nov 29-Dec 6, 2006. The weather was beautiful, most days were in the 80's. I only remember one day that started out a little cool, but by lunch time we were taking off our sweatshirts.

The crowds in the parks weren't bad at all (it may be because we were following Tour Guide Mike's advice). They film the Christmas parade the first weekend of December, so we chose to stay away from MK those days.

The Christmas decorations are awesome!!! You've got Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, the Candlelight Processional and Osborne Lights. Check out the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian. It's a great time of year to visit!!!

Enjoy your trip!!:santa:

I'm mixed on the first week of December. It has become increasingly popular time of year and the weather is way too iffy for me now. We have had 80s and 40s all in the same week. Last year I decided to switch to F&WF and I was actaully much happier. More consistancy in the weather and the crowds were just as light.

So in the end, I don't know what I would do if I were you ;)

I would highly recommend December! We went December 19-25 in 2002 and it was absolutely fantastic. Honestly, the crowds were very light until Christmas Eve. DW during Christmas time is just magical. It's really something to see. Not only are the parks decorated beautifully (and the lights!!!), but so are the resorts.

We're wanting to go Dec 8-16 this year, and I can hardly wait. :santa: I would stay away from the first week of December since that is Pop Warner Week, though.

It is such a beautiful time of the year - done it twice! The decorations are so pretty! And the weather is better than here in Maryland. You may want a sweatshirt to throw on over your shorts/tee shirt and at night, jeans maybe. My kids don't mind swimming and going to the hot tub - it's cute to see them go back and forth!
If you're starting a new job, you may want to wait. It is a nice time!

We've done the first week in December for the past 2 years and have reservations for this upcoming December. WDW is more magical at this time with all the Christmas decorations, celebrations, and shows. We've avoided the Pop Warner crowd each year by avoiding the All Stars and haven't had a problem in the parks. Our favorite show would have to be 'Illuminations' with the 'Let There be Peace on Earth' ending. Go during the Christmas season and remember to buy a Santa hat with character ears!

December is my favorite time to go. The least crowded time I have ever been was a few years ago (2002 maybe??) the 2nd week in Dec. I don't know how long the cheerleaders, etc. have been going in December but we didn't see them the year we went. Sadly it rained the entire trip and not just a little rain. They kept saying on the local news it was rare that it was raining so much etc.

Now my oldest is in school so we can't go early December. Last year we went the week before Christmas and crowds were not bad most of the time. We just decided last week to go again this year the week before Christmas again.

We stayed at the BWV last year and are trying the Contemporary this year.

December is a great time to go b/c of the decorations and the atmosphere is great too.
