I did not see anything for Howl O Scream posted, so I figured I would add my report for those interested.

I went to HOS on 10/30. I had also the weekend prior, done HHN. I was sadly disappointed in my trip to HHN, and was hoping for something better to end the Halloween season with...did I get it?

:yay: YES!!!! :thumbsup2

Hubby and I have passes, the Family and Friends passes because we have a family member who works there. We had a snag with those, just a DUH moment between hubby and I...seems we both had our expired passes on hand, but had the good ones elsewhere..but managed to get into the park about 4:40p..a LOT later than I wanted, but oh well. We headed right to Jungala, got some kitty pics, then headed to Timbuktu.

Now in previous years, we skipped the Fright Feast. Well this year, we were hungry, and the price was good...30% off the regular price(The cashier rung us up wrong) so we did it. We walked in right at 5:45, and began to eat. We were both stuffed as the show was starting. Normally, we skip the shows, but since this was here, we figured it was better than riding Sandstorm over and over like we normally do..LOL..

One Wild Night - Ok when this started, I thought it was pretty lame. I am not a "musical" kind of person. I must say though, I was highly amused by Trick, and enjoyed the Project Runway spoof. I had to explain it to the hubby, as he does not watch the show. Also the small Disney jabs were also fun. Overall, a fun show. I wish I had been closer to the stage, as Trick was wandering around with people, and I would have loved some pics with him. Overall, an OK show, but would not have made the special trip for it. Also not a fan of lip-synching.

We released at 7p, and was awesome to have full run of the park for 30m. Hung out with the scareactors outside, with the light up red eyes. These guys were awesome. Just when you think they are ignoring you, they are chasing you down! Awesome! We then moved on to Trapped in the Walls.

*As a side note, we did every house 2x, with the exception of ToB..my reviews will be for both times through..

Trapped in the Walls- This house was a major scare for me last year, and this year was not exception. On the first pass, hubby and I were pretty much alone in the house...and the scares were everywhere. We also had the pleasure of seeing the Raven twins in the bedroon scene. They were very creepy, and made sure to blow me a kiss as I passed on by. Also on my first pass through, just as I passed the bedroom scene, something made me stop moving. As I did, I felt something pass over my foot...when I looked down, I DID see something crawling away...too slow to be a mouse, but to big to be a roach :scared1: ...I was SERIOUSLY freaked by this, because the "rat room" as I called it was next, and I was on eggshells. On the 2nd pass through, the actors were in different locations, causing double the scares. I also love the use of actors on the "roof tops" of the houses...Very creepy indeed. Overall...4 outta 5 for me.

After Trapped, we headed out toward Timbuktu again, and went into the Safari area where the house Death Row:Vengence was. We walked right into the troupe of scareactors..The Sliders! We pretty much were alone, and they took FULL advantage. Between the maniacal laughs, and the flying sparks...You guys ROCKED. I was disappointed I did not get to see you guys again. There was one who was hiding in the smoking area, that almost gave me heart failure as he jumped out from the bushes. We continued on to Death Row.

Death Row: Vengence - WoW. I remember this house when it was The Hunted. It creeped me out then, and do no less this time. Again, the first time through, we were alone. The sounds alone in this place made me want out. The room with the people hanging, and him PLEADING with me to set him free, was enough to drive anyone mad. I was conviently trapped in the laundry room, and scared right into another scare. The room with the cells, and the people floating along the top..just way to cool. I could see the faces of all the people in there, and the looks alone were enough to make me scream out at times. Sadly our 2nd trip through was ruined by a group of idiots who were drinking in the house, and also taking flash pictures...a HUGE NO NO :sad2: I did not let that cloud my judgement of the house though, and this one also earned a SOLID 4 outta 5 from me and the hubby.

We passed through Zombie Junction, which was empty as it was still not yet 7:30p, we had about 5m or so till the masses ruined out fun, so we quickly ducked into After Hours.

After Hours:Last Call-I have done this house every year since they started it, and this year was fun, but not my favorite. The creepy He/She dancing at the front just grosses me out. I also was not a huge fan of what I heard someone dub "The Huge Butt Cheeks." The person said he felt like a giant turd..LOL. This house did prove to scare my hard to scare hubby though, in both times through the front door, someone jumped out at him. I laughed at him both times, and was rewarded for my laughing by getting scared myself.. I missed the bartender squirting water at us..shame it went to just air. The areas of dark though, and that feeling you are not alone was everywhere, and most times I wasnt alone. I had a lot of scares, but it did not feel like anything new. I did enjoy the tunnels, they are a fun feature that HHN ripped off from them, but the chainsaw guys at the end werent very into it it seemed, and it ended kinda flat both time...Oh and do all the scareactors need to whipser horrible things in your ear...LOL.. I was so freaked out by this, but made it all the more personal. A 3 outta 5 on this one.

By now, the masses had all entered, and were heading for AH and Montu. We followed the crowd, but ducked out at Reconstruction.

Reconstruction:The Doctor is In- Wow...I hated this house when it used to be the 3-d mazes. Now...the details were amazing. The actors..On top of their games. Hubby was scared NUMEROUS times. I too, even more so. The room with the guy nailed to the wall, creepy. The woman in their offered to take my hubby, and I freely offered him up to her... The room where it is completely dark, save the light that turns on every 20sec or so, and was quiet..THE BEST. Both times through this house were awesome for me, and I would have liked a 3rd trip honestly. I hope this house makes a return. One funny note, after our first trip through, it looked like they had some power issues, as the path outta the house toward the park was pitch black. The 2nd time, the lights were on. A 5 outta 5 for me.

We skipped Montu, and backtracked toward the front of the park, jumping every 5 feet as we passed through the alligator area. Nothing beats people hiding in the bushes with shaker cans at your feet to make you jumpy.:scared1: We watched the Raven Twins hot and steamy show for a few min, then moved on toward Gwazi. We ran into the roaming clown troupe, and thankfully, I was left alone. Not a clown fan. We also skipped Gwazi for now, and moved on to Eat your heart out.

13: Eat Your Heart Out-I was a fan of this last year. This year, between the ugly Ford car in the front to the Ford stickers all over the place...I just wasnt all that thrilled. Both times through I saw most of the actors during a reset, though a few did manage to still get me...like the one hiding behind the refridge! Best scare in here for me was during the 2nd trip, in the backyard area, one jumped at me, hit me on the head with something..and yelled "LAWN DART" and then laughed. I jumped, then laughed with him. Very amusing. Otherwise..I hope this house does not stick around another year. 2 outta 5 for me.

Now it was time to pass through some scarezones, and Wicked Woods was up first. I love the use of this area for a scarezone, it works perfect, and the scares...OMG...Out of this world. We were oddly alone at this point upon entering, and after running from the creepy guy at the front, then running from the stilt man...I was stopped waiting for hubby, when I hear my name...coming from the STILT WALKER!!! He is running toward me, calling my name...I am OUTTA THERE...to be then chased by 3 others calling my name!!! I was halfway across the zone before it finally stopped, and hubby caught up with me again. I want to give my greatest THANKS to the gang in Wicked Woods around 8p. You guys gave me the best scares of the night. Hubby to enjoyed the fact they took the time to find out my name, then scare the crap outta me. Also gotta love the ones who when they know you have seen them, just give you a friendly PSST as you pass..Thanks again guys! :yay: :scared1: :rotfl2:

We then walked into Eternal Midnight. Again great scares and personal attention always wins me over. The in your face looks, and the chasing scares always get me, and they were abundant as always through here. Great time both trips through.

By now, dinner had settled and coasters were in order. I locked away my bag, and we hit up Sheikra. We almost walk on, front row. Great ride as always. Of course, it broke down, so we sat on the brake run for about 15m before we were unloaded. We never made it back for a 2nd run. We then continued on to our last house, Taste of Blood.

Taste of Blood-I had high hopes for this house, and honestly, this year it did not deliver. This house I only got 1 trip through, and that trip was not all that memorable. I did get a few good scares, but overall, just did not feel all that scary this time. The room with the guy talking was creepy, but not as creepy as it had been in the past. I also was in front of a few actors who were going in for set change, and they had fun with me before they disappeared. Overall though, 3 outta 5.

We skipped Kumba, due to the line, as we usually always walk onto it, and headed for our 2nd roundtrip through the houses, hitting them in the same order as we did prior. We did walk through Zombie Juntion though, and had some great scares in there...Love the guy jumping outta the bushes! Got the hubby on that one, so much so, another actor commented on it and laughed at him. We hung out and watched other people get scared for a while, skipped Montu as well due to the line, and headed to get our bags. We decided to leave around 10:45p, and the park was getting busier it seemed. It was getting busier and busier, so we knew it was time to go. We headed out, catching the Raven Twins one more time. We lucked out, and got the first tram we saw, and headed out to find some food.

*Final Thoughts*

-First...THANK YOU! :worship: You guys rock. The effort put out by everyone in the scares was appreciated by both of us. It shows clearly that even though you may not have the bigger budget, you have the bigger hearts to give the best performance you can.

-The smoking was worse than the drinking. Everywhere you turned, there was someone smoking. Luckily we were not in a lot of lines, so we did not have an issue with it there, but the smokers were out in full force.

-The idiots  ...again...It must be the college being right there. We saw a lot of the stupid people. Pics in the houses, yelling at the scareactors, and the like. Hubby mentioned how he saw that the ones who were beligerant, got ignored, and the ones who werent got the scares...well it happened in front of us. One of the "bushes men" was hiding by a lampost near the logflume. We saw 2 different people actually run up to him, and touch him  and yell at him. He remained still...till we passed by him, and he proceeded to scare the living crap outta me but nothing more than a shake of the arm.. :rotfl2:

-The roaving troupes of scares...Kinda in the middle about this. While we only saw the "sliders" once, we saw the clowns 2x, and the roaming zombies 3x. We also ran into the group of scareployees as I called them. The pig head sweeper(Saw anyone?) the baby carriage, the wheelchair. We were behind this group as we walked, and the scares may not have been huge but it was enough of a :confused3 moment for a lot of people. Good fun!

-As we were leaving at 10:45, there were a LOT of people just getting in...why would you spend the money and arrive that late? Like I said, the lines were longer at 10p then they were at 8p. Very Odd.

-Fright Feast was worth every penny I spent, and I will do this again next year.:thumbsup2

Well that wraps up my coverage of HOS 2008. A great year in the books, and cannot wait for 2009 to get here.

Didn't go this year but had been the last 2 years and it was a much better exprience than HHN. Walking through the houses with no one else around is unreal and the fact that the scareactors would touch you made it incredible. I don't know how many times I had someone reach down from the roof and scare the crap out of me!

Well that wraps up my coverage of HOS 2008. A great year in the books, and cannot wait for 2009 to get here.

I have never been to HOS only HHN. We go to HHN every year and buy express passes, no patience for lines. I would like to try HOS next year also. Any tips would be great. How long is the drive from Orlando? Do they sell express passes or something simmilar? What time can you get into park
with the ticket and what time do houses open? Any shows like HHN? What days of week does it operate? Thanks

I am someone who also hates lines and have found HOS to be great but I've done it on Thursdays both times so not sure on weekends. I don't think there are express passes but I think they have the VIP type of passes where you are with an escort (spendy). What we did was attended the feast (buffet) they have, I think it was around $20 and included there show (similar to Bill and Ted but not as good but still of good quality, a couple of other shows in the park). You are then released after dinner and the show at least 30 minutes before the park opens to the public and I have been able to do at least 4 houses with no wait..........by no wait I mean walking through the houses where you don't see anyone else except who you're with and whatever jumps out at you. It is a unique experience that Universal can't provide because of the crowds. For this reason I found HOS to be more fun but only because of the lack of crowds. It is also a much darker atmosphere, like when HHN was in IOA.........great settings for scare zones. They had people on bunjee cords who would fly out of the trees at you. They also touch you which is a little startling especially when they reach down from the roof. The drive has always taken me about an hour and 15 minutes but there seems to always be construction so you never know. The ticket prices were very cheap with an AP. I did find it to be a more sober atmosphere because there is no hard alcohol (I was fine with Budweiser plus 15% off with an AP on Beer......discounts on Beer are hard to find) but it is infested with the local high school kids but most seemed to be well behaved and headed for the rides. I went twice and both were great experiences....only negative was the 1st year when we stayed in Tampa and planned to take a cab back to our hotel. It was a nightmare finding a cab (a couple of hours) and Busch gardens is not in the best section of town. Go and have fun!!!!

Some tips..

- Go on a Thursday if you can, and research when "hell week" is. This is the week the kids are off from school on Friday..that Thursday is usually busiest.

- They now DO sell an "express type" pass. I found no need for it. Longest I waited, 5min TOPS.

- DO FRIGHT FEAST! This way you get one show outta the way, and you get 30m EXCLUSIVE time. BG is pretty strict on this rule, and gates opened RIGHT at 7:30p...just as advertised. So we got our 30m in.

-Keep an open mind. This is NOT a Hollywood studio. The makeup can seem cheesy, yes, but the employees make up for it in quality scares. There is not a lot of touching, as that is still NOT ALLOWED, but they do have accidents, and you may get bumped off and on. No biggie.

HOS takes place on select Thur, Fri, Sat, and sometimes Sun through Oct. Tickets range in price, hours usually from 7:30-1a, 2a in weekends. The park gets VERY dark, and is tons of fun.

I live in Poinciana, and it took me about 1hr 30m to get there. If you have any other questions, let me know..I would be happy to answer them.

What time does fright feast usually start?

What time does fright feast usually start?

Fright Feast lets in at 5:45p. They said food does not start till 6p, but we were eating just as we got let in. The show starts at 6:45, and the food is available right to the end at 7P

We did it this year ON Halloween, on a Friday, I was expecting the lines to be ridiculous. We were there for the opening and stayed until about 1/2 an hour before the closing.

I did not wait in a single line longer than 5 minutes all night. In fact the longest line was for Gwazi which we did right after it opened, and there was a bit of a line for Eat Your Heart Out (one of the houses) which we did second. After that we doubled back to ride Montu and that was the last we saw of any lines the entire night. All of the roller coasters were walk ons. By the end of the night, the haunted houses were empty and we were walking through them all alone... well, almost alone. There were plenty of haunted house residents still working the place.

I cannot say enough about the experience we had. It was a GREAT halloween! All of the employees there were clearly having a great time scaring us half to death, and it worked. I hadn't been to Busch Gardens in several years, and I really enjoyed the new stuff they have added. I've never done HHN but my sister has (back when both IoA and US were open for it) and she said that while HHN is bigger, the crowds are horrible and make it hard to be really scared in the houses. Plus the parks are lit up, walking around Busch Gardens everything was DARK and VERY scary! There was one point when we grasped hands and RAN, and I am not very easily frightened (I volunteered to be in the front in every haunted house that we did). My favorite house was the Death Row Penitentiary, it was amazing! We also caught one show, One Wild Night. It was cute but I could have skipped it for more rides and houses.

We drove out to Tampa one day in the middle of a 2 day Disney/2 day Universal spree, and it was my favorite day of the trip. I saved my map for this year and I cannot wait to go back next year, this is a tradition for sure.
