If you remember, what building did you stay in?
We were in Building 2, on the farthest side from the hotel entrance. But, there is a pool over there (not for little ones, though; it's at least 4-4 1/2 feet at it's shallowest), and the walk to the main pool, store, check in was less than 5 minutes and it was a pretty walk through the courtyards.
We always watched the fireworks from DL, but I was told that on the parking lot at the HoJo you can see the fireworks really well, and I have no reason to believe you couldn't.
Try Mimi's cafe, especially for breakfast. I had the BEST tomato, spinach and feta cheese omelette! Plus, they give you this HUGE muffin!
I can't say enough about this hotel. I was worried, because HoJo's don't exactly conjure up great memories for me. But this hotel was beyond outstanding to our family. I really would have liked that Disney Hotel experience, but I was on a budget and just couldn't see spending nearly $200 a night for a bed when I knew we wouldn't be in the room that much.
