How young were you when you bought into DVC?

Not official yet but put down deposit for SSR. I'm 28 DH is 41 with 2 kids DD8 and DS4. If you have the financial means to do it now I would highly recommend it because if you plan on having kids your money somehow disappears after that:confused:
If you can "prepay"vacations you are "forced" to go and bond with family. I regret to say my kids have NEVER been to Disney because dance, soccer, gymnastics, church activities drained me but I've now made building family moments a priority. Can't wait to go to SSR in June and just think the older you are the longer YOU can potentially enjoy your points:)
I would not however do this if you cannot afford comfortably as I said previously somehow once kids come money disappears

I wanted to buy when I was 25 but figured I should actually own a home before joining. I ended up buying when I was 29.

We are financially secure at the moment and already own our own home, so that is not a problem. I think we would be able to pay half cash and finance half. I'm 20 at the moment, but i think i read somewhere that the minimum age is 21. Does anyone know this for definate?

I was 31 and my wife 29 when we bought in. Some have said it before, if you can afford it, go for it! We looked at it 8 years prior to that on our honeymoon, but my parents had had a timeshare for years and had all kinds of problems, so we passed on the tour. After looking at Marriott, we decided to look at Disney and were hooked by the vast difference between these two highly touted systems. Disney won hands down.

DW and I 57/54 the older generation bought in May 2002 and love it:Pinkbounc :bounce:

we just put our deposit down for BWV yesterday.

i am 37 and dh is almost 30, we have one son 16 months.

we decided to buy because we'd just planned our 3rd trip in a little over 2 yrs. we figured it we're going so often we should really invest in dvc.

we are paying cash now so we won't have to worry about payments should something happen (one of us laid off, etc.)

like laurabearz said 'we may be old but our kids are not' LOL.

30 and 29 back in 92, we had been on a couple timeshare presentations in St Maartan the prior year and really, really liked the idea. When we got to WDW, I started asking about Disney's timeshare. I got blank stares and comments like "Disney would never get involved in such garbage"

I had asked four or five different CMs and got the same thing from each of them.

Then when walking into MK, I asked again, this was more of a suit looking guy. He got on the phone, asked if we'd like to see it now and ten minutes later the Vacation Club Mobile came into the tram area and whisked us off. Three hours later we were members.

I thought it was so odd that so many CMs said that Disney didn't have a timeshare.

I know, really they don't, its a club, but you would think that a CM would have pointed you to the club.

Just bought in June this year! I am 42 DH is 47. The kids are older. So we probably will be going by ourselves half the time. They may want to come some time. But this is our retirement future here. Yeah Disney!! What a better way. :teeth:

in 7/2000 39 & 37 and bought sight unseen, then WOW when we made our first trip home 2/2001.

Since then, we've been home 8 times. Also, did the add-on :bounce: dance after 1 year. The price was $67 when we bought now it's up to $84 - $89 (in just 3 years)

We bought this past summer---I am 27 and DH is 33---kids are 5 and 8.

We put it off long enough, I was 63 and my wife was 62. I don’t know exactly why we finally “took the plunge” but high on the list were our kids and grand kids and the location of the Beach Club Villas. We have spent twenty-five nights thus far and are planning a family Disney gets to gather this Thanksgiving.:)

29. We just bought into Saratoga Springs. The lack of annual passholder rates and excess children (3);) influenced my decision.

46 and 45 when we bought. Should have figured a way to afford it 10 years earlier.

Wow I'm dumbfounded at the young ages of most folks that replied to this question.
I am only now at age 50 seriously looking at it..
That said we have done family trips to Britain, France, Germany, Egypt, Turkey, Greece over the past years. Now with two of my sons in their 20's and a 10 year old at home we're seriously looking at it (and still not sure if I can afford it :) )
Good for you younger people. You'll sure get your use out of your membership.
Cheers,
Grumbo

DH and I were 22 when we bought in June of this year. My opinion is the younger you buy the better. You will have DVC to enjoy throughout many different phases in your life. We are probably an exception owning a home and DVC at this age but if the funds are there I say go for it!!

32 and 30. Should have bought when we were younger, we've gone so many times since we met. Oh well, we can enjoy it now!

I thought we were young buyers until I read this thread. guess I was in left field. :p

we just bought this summer and we are both 37. :smooth:
kudos to those in their 20's who are financially secure and able to buy at that age. :) :)
