We are planning to go to DL next May. Our new darling little girl will be 17 months at that time. Is this to young? will she even remember? :love1:

My daughter is 19 months now and we just got back from WDW with her on Sunday. She's been at almost 3 months, 3.5 months, 9 months, 13-14 months, and DL at 6 months. After our last trip (when Madison turned 14 months during the trip) she remembered a lot for a long time. Even now, she'll look at photos and get excited. She didn't talk then though, so she couldn't express what she remembered, but it was clear she had memories cause she's point to photos and babble. Now, will she remember it in a few years? Probably not, but we'll be back again many times (next trip planned for Christmas when she'll be 22 months) so I'm not too worried about what she remembers and doesn't right now. She has fun while we're there and that's what matters!

Gosh, I'm so not the person to ask about that. Let me try. Upload your photo to a photo storage site (I use www.imagestation.com ). Once you've done that, right-click on the photo on the storage site and look at what it says under properties. Highlight everything listed after properties and copy it. Then go to your User CP on the DIS, edit signature, then click on the little insert a picture icon. Paste the url you copied from properties into the box that pops up to insert a photo and you're done!

Really though, check the tech board cause I'm sure they have a much better explanation than that. Oh, and welcome to the DIS!

Oh Goodness no, it's not too young. There are many things for a toddler to do. We took my DD when she was 1, 2 and 3. She really liked the colors and characters at age one - she lit up when she saw Mickey Mouse. Your DD will love it.

We took our first family trip to WDW when our DS was 17 months. It was the most magical, wonderful vacation we had ever had! He went on almost everything that did not have a height requirement. It's a Small World was his favorite (we have the sweetest pics of him absolutely in joyful awe on that ride), along with Peter Pan, the Safari in AK, Buzz Lightyear, and many more. He also had so much fun just looking around, watching the fireworks, playing in the fountains, and so on.

No, your daughter will probably not remember the trip (except maybe vaguely), but YOU will--our memories from our first WDW trip are some of our most precious memories.

Just take it easy and explore at a toddler's pace most of the time, use babyswap a lot if you like, bring plenty of money for popsicles and ice cream treats, and enjoy!

I just noticed that you said DL and not WDW--I think the same principle applies! :)
You will find PLENTY to enjoy with your little one at Disneyland. Have fun!

BTW Cadence is precious!

DD 4 mos, 10 mos, 14 mos, and then once or twice a year since...now 12.

DSs may have started alittle later but made up for it.

Never too young or old for pixie dust :wizard:

She won't be too young. She'll almost certainly enjoy it. But she might not remember much. If this is a once in a lifetime trip, I'd wait until she's older. But if you're planning to visit again in the future, go ahead and take her now.

We took DD to WDW for the first time at 17 months. She loved the rides, the characters and even the crowds. I enjoyed it because she napped in the stroller and we didn't have to take resort breaks during the day. The only "bad" thing was that she ate mostly ketchup the entire 5 day trip.

We went back in April with DD almost 5 and DS2. DD didn't remember anything from her previous trip but she'll definitely remember this one! We had a blast when she was 17 months. Definitely no regrets!

Our youngest DD was just 12months when we took her for the first time. She had a blast!

We have taken our kids at all ages from 8 months on and they ALL love it, who wouldn't!! Have fun!!

IMO that is the perfect age for WDW! They are so excited! Everything is new and amazing to them. We are leaving tomorrow for my 15-mos-old's 3rd trip. She travelled at 4 mos and 10 mos. My dd6 has been to WDW 9 times - first time at 6 mos and she loved it! DD4 went for the first time at 4 mos. She had bad reflux, but other than than we had a fantastic time!

I agree - never too young or old! :)

BTW, my dd6 does remember her trip from when she was 17 mos. She has an incredible memory.

THANKS It will be a wonderful memory for My wife and myself. Didn't think of it that way. Plus we will have a hundred pictures to show her later.

Once you feel comfortable leaving the house with them and taking a trip to a place with many people, that is how old they have to be. It can be different for everyone.

My oldest went to WDW at 8 1/2 months, 23 months, 29 months, and just shy of 3 years old. Then VB when she was 3, and 2 more times when she was 4 years old. (total of 6 times so far.)

Her baby sister was 7 month and 9 months, her next trip will be Jan 2006 and she will be 17 months old. I think it will be harder then her 1st 2 (she was a pretty easy baby, she loved WDW.)

I must admit that I am looking forward to this next trip with my oldest, she will be just under 5 years old (for a total of 7 trips before she turns 5 years old, I think, we loss track.) Each trip gets better and better for her. She enjoys different things and gets different things out of WDW at different ages.

BTW DD who is now 4 remembers every trip to WDW, but her 1st one. She likes to look at the pictures. It doesn't mater if they remember it, we won't ever forget it. Parents don't stay home until kids are old enough to retain memories.

Have a good time, take lots of pictures. Tolders can be challanging, but if yours is one that can handel it, (or better yet if you are a parent that is up for it, and maybe has some help.) go for it.

Promise it won't be the only time to take her though.

My oldest is a rather shy child so she perfered to see them from a distance. However as she got older she wanted the picture and autograph so she would see them for that, but didn't want to play much (she did sometimes, I have the cutest video of her playing with eeyore at CP when she was just under 2 years old.) She likes the face ones better (princess.) Even when she was shy at the time, she talked about them later. She would get too nevrous at charater meals to eat her food, she wanted to be sure they wouldn't sneak up on her.

My youngest liked them fine when she was 7 months old and the 1st part of the trip when she was 9 months old. (she LOVED piglet.) The last day she saw Winnie the Pooh in England and freaked. From then one she wasn't so happy about it. We will see this next trip.

I have 4 kids and have taken children as young as 9 mos to Disney. IMHO, I personally, would not plan a trip to Disney for a 17 mos old JUST FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILD. In other words, I think it's perfectly fine to take a 17 mos old to Disney, and they will enjoy what they can understand. They won't be able to ride most of the rides, and they will probably be terrified of the characters. But they can tag along with mom and dad and hang out while MOM and DAD have a good time. Does that make sense? I have taken babies to Disney several times and while they enjoyed themselves to some extent, it wasn't enough to justify making a trip just for them. DH and I love Disney and enjoy taking our kids, but when they were really young we made the trip more for ourselves than for them. Now that our 3 kids are older we go more for them than for us because they are old enough to truly experience the magic, and they can ride most of the rides, and yes, they will remember it (my older kids are 4, 6 and 8). A 17 mos old might remember the trip for a few months, but after that, they won't remember it.

I am not discouraging you from going, by all means if you and your spouse love Disney then by all means go! But I would keep your expectations in check, most toddlers do not enjoy the change in routine that comes from going on vacation and at that age stranger anxiety is at its peak....they might scream in terror at the sight of a giant mouse :rotfl: I have had more than 1 vacation ruined when my expectations for my children did not materialize, always be flexible when traveling with small children!!!! :goodvibes

One of my girlfriends took her first child when the little girl was 1 yo. They had a blast. Personally, I would not have enjoyed this as much. We did take our youngest when she was 2 1/2. I really wanted to wait until she was 3, but her grandparents had to cancel-out on babysitting her for the week at the last minute. Now, I'm glad we took her. She had WAY more fun than her 2 brothers and talks about "Magic Kingdom" (meaning the entire resort) all the time. We're surprising the kid with another trip next week! She's now almost 3 and so excited that she's tall enough for most rides.
