How would you renovate WL?

I would like to see all the Disney resorts give some thought to the bedding. The old "coverlet tucked over the pillow" is kind of gross after seeing all of those 20/20 exposes on hotels! I do love the Heavenly Beds at the S/D.

I haven't stayed at the WL yet, but watched the TC special, and want to try it!

5 nights at the WL with code = $746.00
Dinner for 3 @ Hoop-Dee-Doo = $150.66
Mickey ears with your name on it = $6.00
Hearing~~ "Hey Mom, did you feel some magic get on you?"
~ DD (5)'s reaction to the mist from Fantasmic = PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!

Thank you SUBEAT for putting that in your sig...that is one of the cutest things I have ever heard!!!!!!

Thanks cra-z-4-disney! I'll pass the compliment on to my DD...she'll get a kick out of some one commenting. The story that goes along with that line is a Magical Moment in the 2004 Passporter. She thinks it is sooooo cool that she is published.

I love the WL and think the decor is just fine.

The only things that it needs is some cosmetic upgrades. Our room there had chips our of the table and the chair were not the best (very wobbly). The border in the bathroom was peeling..... so little things that can be taken care of pretty easily.

All in all, the resort is beautiful. It is just showing it's age a bit. I can't really blame it, lots of people go in and out of there each day!

I wonder if it is possible to add a walking trail connecting the WL to the Ticket Center? Having access to the monorail system would be a plus. I have not had the pleasure of staying at WL yet (going this May) but I have heard the Ticket Center is not that far away. Unfortunately, there is no safe way to get there on foot.

I was SOOOOO ready to 'flame' you, but after I started reading your opening thread, I realized it was a thread to improve the "WL", not a thread to improve the "WL Thread".... silly me!

It is very frustrating to see that monorail track not far away in the woods. Perhaps detour that track over a little so there can be a lodge station.

Ok...how soon is soon for these renovations to start? Like 3 months from now? 2 weeks from now? Im getting nervous. We LOVE WL and haven't stayed there in 8 years. We managed to get an incredible email code rate and this really bursts my bubble. Does anyone know the extent of the reno? I cant see t hem putting a popular hotel like WL under renovation for the summer season. It just doesn't make sense to me. Im crossing my fingers that it will happen after my trip in May, or if it is occuring during my trip that it wont be a distraction of any sort.

:confused3 In the 4 nights I stayed there, I smashed my leg on that bed frame more times than I can count! However, I absolutely loved the place! My kids and I think the pool could be bigger...the boys thought it was a little "lame."

I wish I had more time to spend exploring the resort.

What most people do not realize is that the WL was originally built to be an upper moderate not a deluxe that is why the rooms are smaller and the lack of the food court. Roaring Forks was a good size as was the pool area before the villas were built, now you have most of the folks staying there also using Roaring Forks and the pool area which makes it crowded. I think when they built the villas they should have gave them a much bigger pool area so most wouldn't want to be bothered with the original pool, although their pool is nice it is very small and it is somewhat shaded. I do think the rooms need some attention, the wallpaper is peeling and what's with the super small tv? My biggest gripe of recent is the management staff and not feeling like they care...........oh and the coffee! it really sucks. I think the path to the TC is a great idea, I love the one to FW. Many things have changed at the WL since the beginning, I miss the smell when you used to walk into the place but apparently there are to many people sensitive to smells, I wish more people would remember that than to bathe themselves in perfume and stand in front of me in line at the parks!

I would like a mini guiser in the kiddy pool so it is more than a big puddle!
;)
:rotfl: :rotfl:

How bout some hidden Mickey's in those buffalo pictures for a TOUCH of Disney ;)

Thanks for reading the post before igniting. After years of email and message boards, I no longer have to wear asbestos for protectection from flamers. They don't burn my skin any longer but my hairline is getting thinner trying to figure out what motivates these people. They'll say things in email and posts that they would never say in person.

Just kind of curious if anyone knows when the renovations will be occuring?
I got the impression it was supposed to start later this year and begin in concierge and I believe part of that was to include a larger lounge. Course I may totally be wrong.

...mebbe you should have posted your title like this: [The "How would you Improve the WL?" thread], instead of how you currently have it typed...[LOL!] :teeth:

I'd like them to go back to a dedicated boat to MK rather than sharing with FW - it takes forever to get there in the a.m. and after fireworks with one boat for both resorts. But other than that I love the place

:cool1: :cool1: Amen to that suggestion :cool1: :cool1:

We loved the WL when we stayed there last May. My suggestion would be to make a bigger laundry area with more washers and dryers.

Just remembered that the CM said high-speed internet was one of their suggestions to management. Now if they could make that "free" high-speed internet like you get in $59 Comfort Inn rooms....

We stayed at WL last April (changed this year's reservation to CR garden wing due to code availability, but with some regret as we loved WL).

Top 4 suggestions for change:

1) replace bed frames with ones that are better designed -- last year's bruises have just healed
2) enlarge roaring forks -- it's very busy @ breakfast and dinner
3) higher wattage light in bedroom's
4) building a walking trail/bridge to CR -- if you could walk on water, the south tower would only be a 5 minute walk. MK/monorail access would become easy.
