As I was sitting in church this Sunday, the teenager (probably close to 20), without warning, vomited on me and in my purse! He didn't bend down or anything - just straight out. I was horrified! Even worse, he and his family continued to sit there for the rest of the service! Because they did... I did too!!!! (It was almost over.) Anyway, as soon as the sermon was over I got up and rushed to the bathroom. The mother was still sitting there singing away as I left!! I cleaned myself up, found someone to teach Sunday School for me, and left to go home and shower. The mother was standing outside talking to friends. I walked right by her and she never apologized. I wish I had at least asked her if he was sick. I am having surgery on Friday and would like to know what I was exposed to. I could kick myself for sitting there like I did!

I can pretty much guarantee that if an adult (a 20 year old teenager is an ADULT) vomited on my and my purse in church, I would have done/said something.

What is wrong with people? Did they pretend that it didn't happen or something?

I am not the kind of person to make a scene, but if my 5 year old threw up on someone i'd be taking their clothes to the drycleaners and paying the bill to clean up the church.

Disgusting! I would have told them what she did, and ask if they were aware of it.
Have a safe surgery!

OMG. That is one of the most disgusting things I have ever read here. I would have been mortified :sad2: It's one thing if it's a little kid but an adult??? YIKES!!!!! I can not believe they just acted like nothing happened. I would have cleared out the congregation screaming like a lunatic  Isn't that the 11th Commandment?? Thou shall not puke on thy neighbor :teeth: ....it should be

I think I would have done the same thing!! I was just trying to imagine how I would have stayed calm if that had happened to me? I know I would have been freaking out and over the top freaking out if they acted like they didn't even notice

Good luck w/ your surgery OP! :grouphug:

OMG!!! how disgusting and rude of the family not to even acknowledge the whole incident! Hopefully it was from the heat or something... I can't believe people sometimes. If my ds5 would get sick like that...I would be doing everything I could to help you and take care of the situation! Not ignore it!
eta... good luck on your surgery!

I have to start off by saying that my DD13 swears that she doesn't know when she's going to be sick. She'll just let it go anywhere, in her bed, on the carpet, doesn't matter, doesn't even try to make it to the bathroom. Drives me insane.

BUT I would have definitely immediately helped you clean up and paid for whatever and kept on apologizing until you were sick of hearing it. I'm sorry that happened to you.

There is no way I would have sat still, not even for one minute. As soon as his puke was out of his mouth and on me, there would have been action. I can't stand the smell of vomit and I'm sure others in the church were gaging as well. It's a terrible smell and it carries far. I can't believe that the parents of the teen acted like nothing was wrong? Were they not even concerned that their own child was sick? I would have cleaned myself up and then went straight to the parents and the teen as well. Trust me when I say that if the parents didn't seem to care, they would have a large, very unpleasant man in front of them. There's no excuse for them to just sit there and act like nothing is wrong. At least a sorry and a offer to pay for the ruined clothes. How about them cleaning up the vomit in the church afterwards, when the service is done? You just can't let it sit there and ferment. What's wrong with people today? To the OP, you must be the nicest or easiest person in the world to deal with if you can handle being vomited on. My hat is off to you.

I have a really weak stomach. I, more then likely, would have puked back on him! I'm not joking. It would have been ugly. But, I cant believe they all just acted like nothing happened.

I would've thrown up back on him!
An eye for an eye.....a puke for a puke!!

This is SO my son. He's 9 now, but will puke without warning. Even in his sleep!!! The worst was when he was about 4 and we were at my dh's grandparents anniversary party. We were all dressed up. He was dancing around. At the end of the song he came over and asked me to pick him up. Within 10 seconds he just let loose and it went ALL down the front of me. Of course, I RAN to the bathroom and tried to clean us up (in the meantime puke is falling off of us on the bathroom floor which I then had to clean up.)

Driving home was NOT fun---30 minutes away in the freezing cold so the heater HAD to be on!!! YUCK!!!

Poor little thing wretched the rest of the night and was sick as a dog. 3 days later, Christmas day, my dh had the same thing. :(

:rotfl: :rotfl: this made me think of that scene from Stand By me, no worries...I won't describe it nor will I post a pic :teeth:

I don't understand how you could have sat there!!!! You are a stronger person than I am. I read your post with my jaw dropped. That is unfreaking believable that they didn't even say anything!!!!!!

That is so gross!!! I would have thrown up, also (weak stomach). I can't believe they didn't even offer to help clean your purse or dry clean your clothes. I'm betting they were embarrassed, but how could they continue to sit there?

I'm one that would have thrown up myself and then I would have made a BIG scene. That is just wrong, rude and disgusting.

Puke on me, no biggie. I'm a nurse and pretty much used to puke. But puke on my purse and there's gonna be a fight, priest or no priest! ;) :goodvibes

Seriously, I have no idea what I would have done! From now on, the kids are sitting next to strangers! :)

Honestly, if it had happened anywhere else... it would have been ugly! :furious:

I think I was just to shocked to react. Who would ever think that would happen??? :confused3

Wow, I am also surprised they sat there and ignored it. You have a stronger stomach than I do because I would have had to get up and leave.

That said, we nearly had the same thing happen, only it was our own DD. Ash Wednesday service, she was not sick at all otherwise we would have never been there. We went up for our ashes and as soon as we got back to the pew she mumbled something to DH and leaned over him and let loose. Thankfully we go to a small church and when my DH went "whoa" very loudly the Pastor only looked for a second and then continued on as she was doing. DD was about 4 at the time, DH managed to catch a large part with his hands. I grabbed her and he took off with us right behind, I cleaned her up, he cleaned himself up and then I took a small bucket with water and a rag and quietly went in and cleaned up the little bit on the floor. There was no way I could leave it there, eeewwww. DD felt 100% better right away and didn't understand why we told her it was time to go home, she wanted to stay and play.

Do you know these people? I would hope they would acknowledge what happened, maybe send you a card and offer to pay to clean your purse and clothing. I'm going to bet that no one sits very close to them next week. ;)
