My wife and I compromised when we started dating.

I moved down from well down to medium well, and she moved up from medium rare to medium.

These days we generally both order medium well, unless at Outback where I want it well done and then some

Has to be well done. I've been known to send a steak back several times until they finally cook it. I hate it when they argue with you. If you have used good meat, cooking it won't hurt.
