How would you handle this?

Shhhhhh, don't give away all our Florida secrets!!!! :lmao:

There is nothing better than getting an out-of-towner to freak out at the sight of a lightly colored cockroach. But when they FLY, man, that is our secret!! That is when we get to see all kind of crazy antics ensue!!

lol ;)

I have lived in FL my whole life and I still freak out at the sight of them :rotfl:

We just got back from camping at the Fort - TENT camping - my biggest complaint was the loud, roaming PACK of KIDS at 11:30 at NIGHT!!! What the heck!? A 6 year old roaming around howling like a coyote!? Where are the parents?? We went to the front desk in the morning to complain and ask what time "quiet time" started and we were told there was no real "quiet time" and next time it happened we needed to walk to the phone at the bath house and call security. I guess folks don't realize there is only a thin layer of nylon between those trying to sleep and those wanting to stay up till the wee hours of the morning...

I'm sorry to say, but teenagers running around anywhere have been a problem since I was one of them, back in the 80's. Well, I wasn't one of them, my brother and I always respected other campers, we were raised that way, but this is nothing new. Kids will always be a problem, and I can imagine 20 years from now nothing will have changed.

It was a problem, is a problem, and will be a problem. Unless there is a magical way of keeping teenagers from being "teenagers", I really can't imagine there is much that can be done.

Don't worry, 10 years from now those same teenagers will be on this forum talking about "why are all those kids running around screaming???"....lol

I did not say they were teens, they were young kids - the youngest was about 5 the oldest about 10. Would you let your 5 year old roam around in the dark at 11:30 at night?

I know this subject keeps getting beat up on, but when we were there last week it really bothered me seeing the teens on golf carts. I think too that a lot of parents think since there's a lot to do at the fort they have a free babysitter. For the most part though I think things are under control. I saw quite a few security officers driving thru FW. Not so much on the loops but the main roads had a few riding around.

Well, I wouldn't let them do it, but I was more talking about how kids will be kids :)

Only if they were on a golf cart........:duck:

Just last month I added ear plugs to the important stuff stashed in our popup. Popups are basically like tents with AC. It still doesn't drown out everything.

My 4 year old does like to howl, but no way she'd be up at 11:30 doing it.

How late was EMH when you were there? I'm thinking that's going to be a problem throughout the summer when the parks are open so late (doesn't the MK stay open really late on some nights?). A lot of people like to take a break in the afternoon and then go back out for the late EMH, so it's pretty late when they head back to the campground.

It's just a matter of consideration for others (don't the majority of complaints come back to that?).

I'm not sure if that was an EMH night, but still, roaming children with no adult supervision... What are people thinking?? Apparently, they are not.
