How would you feel?

I made reservations at the DLH on Thursday. When I spoke with the very friendly CM I told her that this was a surprise for our family because we have NEVER stayed at the DLH and I would appreciate it if they didn't send the confirmation to me by mail. She said no problem and offered to e-mail me the confirmation, which she did. But she also DID send me the confirmation by mail and my husband checked the mail today and guess what he found. Yes, he knows and I am more than unhappy about it. He is the main one I wanted to surprise because my 2 and 5 year old don't really understand the significance of it.

Would you call to complain?

Well I'm not sure there is much you can do about that. I am sorry that your surprise was ruined though! I hate when that happens!

I'd tell DH to act surprised. Giddy surprised.

And I'd probably not bother complaining but that's me. They cant really take it back...

I wouldn't complain, it was probably an automatic system, not the CM's fault.

I'd probably just let it go. Humans do make mistakes and this is obviously what happened in this case. Now at least maybe your hubby can share in your excitement. You can still surprise the kids.

Also, now he knows where you are going and staying but I bet he still doesn't know ALL the details. Maybe you can come up with some additional ideas to surprise him with.

How about having a gift basket delivered to the kids or a cake if it's someone's b-day or anniversary. Call Vacation Planning and they will give you a list of things you can order! I always have a cake delivered for our anniversary and my hubby acts surprised each time!

I have seen this same scenario reported on the WDW side of disboards with the WDW resorts. It is an automatic system that generates those snail mail confirmations. The only way to keep it a surprise is give them an address where your spouse doesn't check the mail. I am sorry about the surprise being ruined, that is too bad.

I would call and tell them what happened. If you booked a standard room tell them that you want to be at the very least placed in a room with some sort of nice view to compensate you for your ruined moment. If you already paid for a view room than maybe there is something else they can do for you, not a high cost sort of thing or freebie but maybe they can note what view you want (pool or DTD) and try to give you that request when the time comes.
