How would you convince yourself.....

C. Ann, you've done so much, this will be a piece of cake. :teeth:

Well I'll go if ya need me too :teeth:

And as for going to Disney alone I did it last year and it wasn't that bad. I met up with some friends down their a few times but I was in the parks by myself a majority of the time. It wasn't too bad. I kinda got worn out because I'm a fast walker and I kept walking so fast by myself that I was exhausted by the end of the trip.

It wouldn't take much to convince myself if I had the opportunity.:teeth: I have no problem doing solo stuff. My kids would hate me if I didn't take them with me though.

The idea of a vacation all by myself sounds wonderful to me (especially WDW)... although, keep in mind, that with four boys ages 3-8, even sitting by myself in the dentist's office is a wonderful thing.

I was thinking that I would love to go to Pleasure Island and just keep getting back in line for the Comedy Warehouse. We watched it twice when we went, but after the second time, my DH was ready to go somewhere else. I could have stayed there the entire night.

I would take a bunch of books and just find a bench in one of the parks. People watching and reading (while eating myself into oblivion) would be a great way to pass the day.

I could go and watch all of the shows without having to tell my dear ones "Sit down" "Shhh....people are trying to listen" "But you just went to the bathroom", etc, etc. etc.

Finding a great seat for one for a parade or show would be a lot easier than finding a section big enough for six.

You can go to bed when you want and get up when you want.

Okay, I'd better stop or when my DH wakes up, he might find a note on his pillow that says "GONE TO DISNEY"

I would imagine going to disney alone would be extremely RELAXING!! Think about it, you don't have to worry about pleasing everyone else and making sure that everyone gets to do what they want to do, which is *my* most stressful thing at disney. I don't mind missing things, like last time we went I didn't get to go on space mountain, or to disney quest, and I didn't mind that kindof stuff, but if someone else in the group missed something they really wanted to see I was kindof upset for them, but by going alone you get to choose just what you want and not worry about anyone else. :) Also like someone else suggested, you can go to a spa or lay at the pool, or go shopping for hours, without having to worry about people being bored!
And for those times where you think 'ah isn't that pretty' but you have no one to share it, TAKE A PICTURE!! then you can share it all with us here @ the DIS when you get back! I'm sure we will all love that!!! :teeth: I hope these suggestions help!

tricia.

3 or 4 days is perfect for a solo trip.

I have done it a couple times. You can sleep a little late or get a real early start. You don't have to wait for your whole party to be together. You can pick your own times.

I spent a whole day at Epcot, seeing all the countries films. I never get to do that with 5 people. It is really different to wander the parks and just decide to go someplace else and not have to coordinate schedules.

I did the Adventurer's Club, went to all the shows. It was wonderful. You can spend a whole night there or at Comedy Club. I also love doing Boardwalk at night. ESPN is great and people watching is very cool. Sit on a bench by the bakery and you will meet some great people.

You can probably find a DIS meet. If you want to watch the pin traders in their natural habitat try AS on Thursday or Contemporary on Friday. Plenty of DIS people, there are always lots of people with great stories about Disney there, even if you don't pin trade.

Have a blast - the time will fly , really.

I haven't traveled solo since I got married 13 years ago but did it a lot before then. A lot of it has to do with your personality. If you can enjoy being by yourself at home or at the lake you will most likely have just a good a time alone at Disney.

As for what to do and where to stay - that's the beauty of being alone - what do you want?

My favorite place solo is Epcot. A great place to just walk and take in what is happening around me. Lots of little entertainment like Off Kilter or the street theatre to view.

If I was staying alone I would pick either Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Club. Easy walking to Epcot, the Boardwalk is a great place with lots happening, and if you love pools the Yacht/Beach Club pool - stormalong bay is fantastic.

As for eating alone - if you feel uncomfortable doing a sit-down meal alone there are many great buffet and walk-up options.

One thing that I did on a solo trip that I recommend is a tour. I did the one that was behind the scenes in Epcot. It was geared towards adults only and there were a number of people on it solo. Some there solo and some who were vacationing with a spouse who wasn't interested in the tour.

I hope you do treat yourself. Plus as everyone else has pointed out there is always the possibiity of a DIS meet.

I say go for it too! I've jump at the chance to go to WDW alone for a few days. I could do what I wanted to -- and not worry about what everyone else wanted to do.

The descriptions of those who have done it sound like a lot of fun!

We just stayed at Pop Century in December, and the transporation was great. We didn't wait long for any bus anywhere.

I think I have a perfect comprimise. Go on a Disney Cruise. 3 or 4 days on the Wonder would be relaxing.
If the parks are what you want, I am sure you can pick a time and meet up with other DISers.

Bad, bad people!!!! You are REALLY tempting me.. LOL

Does anyone here know how much a 3-day Park Hopper would be?

Also, I'm thinking it might be nice to try out the Pop Century.. Do you know what a room would cost in June or July? (Of course that place that used to be Dixie Landings sounds really pretty too, but I would want this to be a "budget" trip..)

So what you're all telling me is that I can get around without a car from the Disney Resorts with no problem - right? And getting from the airport to the Resorts would be done how?

I do have a brother that lives down in Vero Beach so at least if an emergency came up there's family not too terribly far away..

I sat here last night - thinking about our last trip to Disney - and I have to admit, there were times when I wanted to just leisurely walk around and really look at things (like on Main Street) and such but we were always rushing off to do this or that..

And I like the idea of offering to take photos for other people! I've always thought that was such a nice thing to do - and I've seen it happen often in the parks..

Here's another idea.. If I stay on-site, is there some bus or something I can take that would bring me around to all of the OTHER resorts so I could see what they look like?

BAD, BAD people!! The wheels are really turning now - LOL.. :teeth:

I am doing a psuedo solo trip in March. A friend won an award, wives invited, but not children. They have a three month old, so can't leave him at home. I am going to watch the baby while they do luncheons and dinners, the rest of the time I'm on my own. Even have my own hotel room. I'd love to do a completly solo trip some day.

Yes, you can get all over property w/o a car. Sure, it may take awhile to get from one place to the other, but it can be done. You can't take a bus from resort to resort, but you can take a bus to, say, Downtown Disney, or the TTC and find the resort bus that your headed to from there. You can also take a monorail from the TTC to the Poly, GF and Contemporary. Take the monorail to Epcot or bus there, and you can walk or boat to the Yacht and Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin and the Boardwalk (as well as boating or walking to MGM). From Downtown Disney you can also take a boat to Port Orleans and Old Key West. When you check into your resort, ask for a transporation guide, and it will tell you have to get from place to place.

Allears.net shows a 3 day/3 park ticket as $155, but I don't think it's a hopper. A foud day hopper is $221.52/pre-purchases.

If I were you, I'd do it. Sounds like a lot of fun.

A regular room (not preferred, which I don't think you need at Pop Century) is $99 per night rack rate during the time frame you are talking about. However, there's always hope for a discount, or if you are still going later in the year, you could buy an annual pass and get those rates if they offered them. I got AP rates in December (value season) for $49 per night. Since you would be going in regular season, it would be a little more.

An annual pass is $392.99. (I know, wow, but if you are going twice, it might be worth it.)

Before you rule out a car, Thrify has them for $79 a week (plus tax, etc.) Also, a 4 day hopper is $192 and a 4 day hopper plus is $216. A 3 day hopper (I believe) is convention/group sales only. You can always save unused days.

I think they only thing that you can do to get a 3 day park hopper is to get the Ultimate Park Hopper with the packages, since those are length of stay passes. Otherwise they only sell 3 day tickets to conventions (as mentioned before).

three day hoppers with one plus for 169.35.adult , child 135.27

I ordered 3 day hoppers last month without a problem. I was not even asked if I was renting a car. Hope they haven't changed their policy. Definately call again and ask again. 1-800-560-2397

I got these posts from another thread in which the OP was saying she was told she had to rent a car with Alamo to get this ticket, but other posters, like the ones above advised her to call back b/c many were getting this price for hoppers w/no problem.
