My biggest problem with mainstreet is the west side is one giant gift shop. AND while I love the shop itself...I would love more exhibits, resturants, etc...

I'd love to see the following...

It looks like you added another path to add shop area.

Well the biggest issue is that it would disrupt crowd flow.

I don't see how added shops/whatever on a new path away from main street would change the make up of the spaces on Main Street itself. You've simply added more shops and 2 potential pedestrian bottlenecks.

Main Street should be a straight run.....Always. Ruins the momentum if there are "side streets"

Too bad you're not Benjamin Button, because this is exactly the opposite of what's happened on MS since MK opened.

Yea I think it would make the paths too crowded. I hate crowds. They give me the heebie jeebies. I had my doctor prescribe me some Xanax for my upcoming trip.

Main street was designed that way for a very specific reason. Americans almost always stay to the right. Therefore, when you are arriving, all of the shops that have things that you might need for the parks (sunscreen, film, cameras, etc.) are all going to be on your right. Same with restaurants. Then, as you are leaving, they want you to buy those last minute souvenirs, so all those shops with clothes, trinkets, jewelry, etc. will be on your right.

Pretty crafty, huh?

Yes all...i know why it's designed the way it's designed. I just miss the penny arcade, and wish there were more places for sit-down meals. I am looking forward to the couple new resturants in the new fantasy land.

I miss the penny arcade, too. I also miss being able to watch the old cartoons in the theater.

I want everything contained in each building to actually be what the building advertises. If it says penny arcade, I want an arcade! Cinema? Give me cartoons!

How would I change mainstreet?

1. Add a Penny Arcade. That would be really cool for a "turn of the century" main street!

2. I'd love to be able to have someplace to watch some classic mickey cartoons? Maybe a cinema location someplace where we can go into the old-timey movie theater and watch some of those old black and white mickey shorts all around us?

3. I don't know how many main streets have just a single T Intersection. Why not just have that one intersection turn into a complete cross street? It'd help break up the other side of the street a bit, and also give us a cool place to maybe have some benches, or a popcorn vendor? maybe another silhouette or caricature artist. OH! And flowers! A balloons for the kids.

4. I'm thinking a Bank on Mainstreet would be helpful too. I'm sure the decor of a classic turn-of-the-century bank interior would look awesome. It would also give people a place they can withdraw some money if they need too, or even maybe buy some Disney Dollars or gift cards or other small-ish trinkets?

:confused3

ok... I know it's not much, but it's a start. IMHO it'd really help give Main Street more of a....well... Main Street type vibe, and less of the "I gotta go this way to get into/out of the park" vibe.

1 and 2 not sure you know this but they did have both of those but retail took over the space.

3. Again at one time that was a full cross street, but see above

4. Not really a need for a full size bank when you only need an ATM, again see above.

5. Disney made Main Street not into a I Got to Go but a You need to buy.

Trust me.... I'm fully aware of what Main Street used to be. That was kinda my point.

I figured as much but your post didn't sound nostalgic enough. ;)

I too remember them when I was there in '77.

I was going more for the Smart@$$ sarcastic vibe in my post instead of the straight up nostalgia vibe.

I didn't get to the park until the 80's. Actually... I didn't make it anywhere until the 70's were almost over. :rotfl:
