How would I do this?

I have 4 points banked into Aug '06 UY,
I need 32 points to add a night to our ressie,
DMIL has 26 Sept '05 points she has offered to me
How would i go about getting the needed points for the ressie?
Can it be done?

Talk to MS about transferring the 26 points from her 05 account to your 06 account. If they won't let you do so to the 2006 account ask about transferring to your 05 use year then banking to the 06 use year. Even though you're past your transfer cutoff's, they may let you bank the transferred points in this situation. Of course if her points are already banked, they may not allow it but you should at least try. You'll be 2 points short so you'll need those from somewhere.

There may be other options, when exactly is your trip and what are all the numbers in the various applicable use years for your and her contracts (current points, banked, borrowed and home resort).

No, neither banked nor borrowed points can be transferred.

Also, she can't just 'borrow' points anyway. Points are only borrowed when making a reservation, and then only the number of points required to complete the reservation.

Since your 4 points are banked, you can't transfer them either.

You didn't say when your reservation is. But if it's in your Aug 2006 use year, you can borrow from your own 2007 use year, if you haven't already done that.

Ask MS, sometimes they will make exceptions for a single owner of multiple contracts, they may extend that courtesy in this situation as well, it never hurts to ask.

Yes, you can have unlimited transfers, as long as they only go in one direction in the same calendar year.

So if someone transfers 26 points INTO your account, you may still receive additional transfers INTO your account, from other members.

Once you receive points IN, you cannot transfer any of your points OUT during the same calendar year. This was most likely done to keep people from 'trading' points. EG, someone trades their OKW points for someone else's BWV points, etc.
