Come on everyone! This is our first trip to Disney during Christmas. I need some room decorating ideas. How did you or will you be decorating your room @ Disney. Any wise tips?

We will be staying in a studio @ BCV, but lets hear all of the ideas. I'm sure many others will want suggestions too!

Let's hear it everyone!!!

Go Bucs!! (Sorry, big fan here in IN, watching MNF!):smooth:

Although it sounds wonderful, we can't justify the cost to have Disney set up and decorate a tree for us. Since we're driving down, we will be bringing a smaller artificial tree and will let the kids decorate it. Being we are going close to Christmas (15th - 21st) and then are driving home (probably arriving home on 12/23), I'd feel the kids got cheated if we didn't do something...no matter how small. We'll probably set that same small tree up at home so Santa has a place to leave the presents. I like the idea of stringing lights too. Just might have to sneak a couple strings in our luggage (DH is going to kill me with all the "necessary" things we always bring).

We always decorate the balcony with lights - lots of DVCers seem to do that OKW - it's so nice to see! And a few years ago I even took our small artificial tree and lights down for the room - the kids really enjoyed that!

I wasn't actually there, but I've seen pictures from when my aunt and uncle went and stayed at FW Cabins. He decorated the "porch" with lights and put up some Disney cardboard cutouts.

We are staying at the WL for 10 nights in December and I plan to do a little decorating. I don't want to do too much though, because I don't want the room to seem too clutered or crowded. I am planning on getting a small tree with fiberoptic lights at Wal-Mart. I saw a three foot one there yesterday for under $20. I already got some mini Disney themed Christmas ornaments on Ebay to go on the little tree. We will probably set that up on the table or on top of the TV cabinet. That's probably all we will do. We are driving down, and the box for the little tree is pretty small - so it won't be a big hassle to find room for it in the car.

We brought window clings, stockings which we hung from the bed posts(at CBR)and a small tree for the table. We also wore santa hats for the week. It really helped set the xmas mood.

We used my DD American Girl Tree, it has it's own set of light and tiny ornaments. I then added our every year disney ornaments to it. I stored everything is ziplock bags and used tissue paper to wrap it in for safe traveling.

What great ideas! We arrive after xmas 12/30 but i love the idea of a sml. artifical tree with lights!

We are celebrating Xmas early with my parents. My mom is decorating two small trees with lights to have in each of our rooms.
Yesterday I found two holiday bell door knob hangs for our rooms.
We are also doing window clings. Not to mention the goody bags we are putting together and the santa hats I am getting.
This is gonna be a really special Christmas...

When DD & DS were growing up, we used to visit WDW every other Christmas season. We would usually leave home on the last day of school before the holidays and stay until Christmas Day. We always brought a small table top tree with us along with small decorations and lights. We also brought a few gifts to put under the tree. I think the biggest thrill for our two kids was getting up on Christmas morning to find the stocking left by Mickey on the door handle! We also sported those silly Mickey Santa hats all week! I still have them. I decorate my tall bedposts with them each year now! Those trips will always bring back warm, loving memories for the four of us!:D

Doing a small tree as well.....we are shipping some non perishable food items down via UPS so will include the tree/lights in the box.
We are also doing the Santa hats to wear in the parks.....have you ever seen the small sets of battery powered lights??
Thinking I will sew a strand into and onto our Santa Hats.....my teens will be oh so embarrassed....but what the heck....that's a daily occurrence around here....I for one....will wear my "light up Santa hat" with pride;) ;) ;)

We brought a tree and lights and decorated the room and windows!! It was so neat!! They put a stocking on the door for our DD!!:D

I sent DH to Wal-Mart yesterday and they have the microfiber trees, pre-decorated. I have been telling DH about decorating the room and he thinks it is a gr8 idea. So, it is nie to know I will have help in decorating and bringing the stuff up to the room, from the car.

Keep the suggestions coming everyone!

Do they leave stocking for all kids? Or just select rooms? My S-I-L has a 5yo that will be in their room @ the BWV. That would be gr8 if they got one!

We have done this every time we have spent Christmas in Disney.

I bought a fiberoptic tree, about 4 foot, and bought extra decorations, ie disney, opened the box and put them all inside. Brought a skirt for the table and window clings. We had our stockings set up around the back of the beds. We set up the table in the room to be near the window and would turn the tree on. It was such a pretty sight to come every night and find the tree on. Even the CMs (room service) would make sure that everything was in order and plugged in. At the AK they had the kids do decorations on paper plates, etc., and we put this on the bottom of the window, along with the oversized Mickey hands.

We woke up on Christmas Day with a stocking on our door filled with Goodies from disney. I noticed them on all doors.

I had forgotten to gift wrap some things and I went to the resort gift shop and they wrapped each and everyone of my gifts, free of charge, and delivered them to our room (while we went to the parks) with the kids and placed them on the table around the tree. What a surprise when they came back to the room and saw the gifts.

We always get an extra decoration in DD and have it engraved with the kids name and year. This they love doing.

We also had the Santa Mickey Hats for the boys and the girls wore the headbands with the reindeer ears. On Christmas Day and Christmas eve everyone wore Christmas Theme sweaters or sweatshirts that were decorated at home with transfers, iron ons or sequins.

Don't be surprised to find people dressed up for New Years' Eve. We have seen them in formal attire (gowns and Tux) in the parks before heading out to one of the NY Eve's parties. It is so much fun.

I think I'm going to have to take the larger suitcase now. LOL! (DH won't let me ship anything, when the airlines transport it for free!)

I can see how to hang lights on the balconys, by wrapping the lights around the posts, but does anyone have suggests for hanging lights inside the room or hanging stockings?

Any advise for a first time at Christmas would be awsome!

Thanks!

Lori

You can use the scotch 3m hangers that stick to the walls temporarily. We even use them at home to hold the stockings so we don't put holes in the walls. They come in all different size and even come really small to use for the lights. When you're all done, you just take them down with no problem.

I've used those 3M products in the past! They are wonderful! I'm so glad you had the answer!

Thanks!

To Tinkrbell--You had asked about the stockings. I believe that they hang one stocking on each door--one per room.

We decorated small stockings for our trip last year. I found Disney patches at Wal-Mart and used puffed paint to write our names and decorate them. We used the suction cups with the hangers to hang them on a mirror they had on the wall near the sitting area in the room.

I made up certificates before we left to put in them that gave each of them a special activity....DD and I had a manicure and pedicure at the salon at BC, DS got to go to IOA and other DS got to go on the fishing excursion from the BW. These were all things we enjoyed together but the kids were wanting to do for some time.

We also had a 5ft. tree (in the sitting area of our room) I have collected small plastic Disney ornaments over the years, a small plastic Mickey and Minnie that sat on our balcony lit up, Had lots of wire garland with stars all over the room and you can't forget those stickies!

We have alot of fun decorating the room when we get there:bounce: :Pinkbounc

We have used those because my home tree is Disney. I have the Storybook Collection ornaments. I would put Tink @ the top and wrap the star garland down around the tree, like Pixie Dust. So now I will have to get some for Disney...nothing like Pixie Dust in your room @ Disney!
