If you cancelled your end of the year, could you rebook with the credit from the spring break cruise? That would at least save some money, assuming that cruise hasn't gone up in price too much from when you booked. Our family had never cruised before and then had three cruises booked for this year. Our spring break cruise is cancelled, DCL Alaska cruise cancelled for summer, that leaves us one cruise left at the end of the year. At this point, I'm not interested in cruising. I hope to get a refund, not a credit. I'm on the fence if we will ever cruise. Maybe one day?
This is the type of sentiment I'm wondering if DCL will really have to contend with, given that so much of its market is geared to new cruisers. The whole industry got a very serious black eye from this pandemic, and families like to feel safe on their vacations. Our family had never cruised before...At this point, I'm not interested in cruising...I'm on the fence if we will ever cruise. That is a good point. It is really hard to say. We are going to see a huge negative impact on the economy. If there is a long period of social distancing you can expect layoffs across industries. People may not be able to afford a cruise. If that is the case when prices will drop
Cruising in general?I'm not sure they will be allowed or in business in 2021.
Unfortunately, yes.Cruising in general?
This is, unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of cruising. If I didn't have the flexibility to take advantage of last-minute discounts we would have never cruised 25 times.I was 100% set on cruising in 2021 in addition to this year (we were looking at Alaska or Norway), now I don't think I will. I have always been a bit irritated by the draconian cancellation policies on Disney cruises; now I see a real hazard because even though they are being gracious this year due to the unexpected nature of the health crisis and giving people 100% FCC, next year, if coronavirus comes back I doubt they will be so accommodating as another round of the virus would be entirely foreseeable. I could see us MAYBE booking a week or two before a cruise but I'm not going to let DCL hold my vacation budget hostage for months ahead of time again.
Good thinking. I really didn't think about all the rebookings, but that could drive up the price on Spring break cruises. As soon as everything started, we booked our cruise for March 2021. We are first time cruisers and booked early in anticipation of prices increasing due to rebooking of cancelled cruises this spring/summer.
