People will not stay away because of the virus. They will not vacation because we are heading into a GLOBAL recession.
Read this article detailing cruise pricing after the 2008 crash (and this is worse)
https://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/travel/15praccruise.html"Norwegian Cruise Line has just introduced rates for kids, or any third guest or more sharing a cabin, as low as $99, down from $499 normally, and will offer up to $250 in on-board credit good toward shore excursions, specialty dinners, spa treatments or other extras on bookings made by March 15. "
So, $99 fares with $250 credit. They will be paying people to take crusies almost. If you have a job and can afford it. If.

The economy is the scariest thing to me right now.

It's really too soon to predict next year's cruising situation. If the unemployment rate is as high as some economists are predicting, fewer people will be able to afford a cruise.

Agreed. It is too soon to tell. How long the virus stays active will be the biggest indicator on how bad the economic impact will be. Some companies will take a huge hit. Others companies such as Amazon will come out of this strong than ever. They just announced they are trying to hire and extra 100,000 to meet the demand.

For me, it will all depend on if there is an effective vaccine out there since this virus will probably come back next year, or it will be more like Ebola and go away. I don't see prices going up because they will need all the business they can get since there will be plenty of cautious people out here.

That is what I keep wondering. If we survive it this year, will it come back in 2021?

I think for sure its going to change the way many companies go about building their business. There has been a push for remote workers for quite a while. Things like limited space, cost of living in certain cities, and a disease outbreak were all things called out at possibly pushing that future work state.

I will say multiple customers I work with have been migrating to or looking at partial work from home in the last year or two where its 2 in and 3 out of the office.

This could also change capacity limits in the short run. Restaurants that used to seat 100 would limit to 50 and push the additional capacity to curbside.

I am hopeful that people are much more considerate the months after we come out of this initial wave of staying at home. If people mind each others space, proactively continuing to be extra concerned about washing hands, and hopefully staying at home when they feel a little bit sick then we will be better off and hopefully can control the spread even while "life goes on".

First, the Human Race has survived much worse than this.

Second, people have short memories. A lot are only going to remember this stuff when it shows up as memories on Facebook.

Life will go on, and things will adjust, just look at Polio ans Small Pox. And vaccines are already being worked on. If people do their part and remain calm, this will pass.

I fully expect that I will enjoy New Year's Eve this year at Disneyland and I will enjoy Alaska on my birthday next year on the Wonder.
