how will the theme dinners work?

Can an experience DCL cruiser clue me in, so I make can be sure my Palo REAS reservations are on a good night.

I'm leaving Aug. 7 on the Eastern 7-day Magic cruise with the itinerary to San Juan (and by the way, does anybody know why Disney is doing this itinerary instead of St. Martin).

Will the restaurants have their own menus for the first three nights, and then move to the theme nights, or are the theme nights interspersed. I feel that I've gotten different info from the PassPorter and from the DCL tribute site, so I'm now confused.

I don't think the themes nights were that big of a deal, except for formal night. The other themes seemed to be just another dinner. Maybe I just did not get caught up in the atmosphere

The reason for the unusual ports of call is that DCL is trying them out. They are always looking for new ways to attract back "frequent cruisers" and attract new ones.

As to the themed dinners--no matter when you choose Palo, you will miss something in the regular dining room. When you board, you will get a "cruise overview" that will tell you what nights will be which. The themes are the tropicalifragilistic, small world, etc. They're not anything fantastic, but are fun....just look at the schedule and see which interests you least.

Oh, I re-read your post. Since you have REAS, why not ask Debbie when you call. She can tell you which nights will have which menus, then you can choose which you want to miss.

When i was on the Disney 7 night in Oct. '01 we were rerouted to San Juan instead of St Maartin because of the hurricane down that area. Disney Cruise, has since done this a few times and has gotton praises from Guests that San Juan is more preferred to visit than St Maartin so DCL decieded to do a trial run and see what kind of feedback they get from guests. It will then be determined whether to eliminate St Maartin and add the San Juan in the future as a permanant itenary. Personally, I have been to both islands and i love the San Juan much better than St Maartin. Far much nicer island!!

I liked St. Martin. I wouldn't mind them trading San Juan for St. Thomas though, one american port for another.

Keep in mind...even if you book Palos for dinner..you could work it around your regular dinner time...That is if you really enjoy your meals, drinks, or social time with tablemates. You could have Palos at 5ish...then attend your dinner in the dinning area at 6:30 or 8:30...or dinner at Palos at 10:00 along with attending the dinning area at your regular time. Just a thought.

Actually, I did ask Debbie when I booked our Palo and spa reservations, and she said she didn't know.

Also, she didn't have any idea when Flounder's Reef would be open, which made it hard for me to book the reservations for our daytime activities (like the spa and Palo's brunch) -- since we have an 11-month-old and we need coverage for him if we are going to be able to do any adult-only things.

I did my best anyway. I'm sure it will all turn out well.
